1. The … Read Full Bio ↴There are FIVE different musicians who use the name Curtis.
1. The first is a band from Ontario, Canada on Brightside Records...
Formed in 1994, Curtis released 2 full length records throughout the course of the next 5 years. After taking a long hiatus, they finally re-emerged in 2004 with a live in the studio record featuring 2 brand new tracks. The band is currently in the studio working on their 3rd full length record and will be touring in support of it throughout 2005/2006.
Singer/guitarist Siegfried Meier is a Producer, Engineer and Mixer that has worked with Kittie, Thine Eyes Bleed, Blue Skies At War, Tom Araya of Slayer, Scotty James, Chuck Ragan of Hot Water Music, Seconds To Go, The Soap Opera Coma, Kover, Machete Avenue, Matthew Johnston, Jersey, The Salads, Holly McNarland, Dayna Manning, among many others.
2. The second Curtis released a stomping disco tune in 1979 called "How Can I Tell Her" (some call it northern soul for some strange reason - perhaps it was played in some of the British clubs alongside northern soul songs). An original copy of this record on 7" or 12" will fetch a substantial amount of money due to it's rareness (and greatness). It was released on the Baltimore, Maryland based indie label, Charm City.
3. The third...
Curtis Fornadley, (who only uses his first name professionally) is a guitar player and native of southern California.
His band, Rob Chismar (drums) originally from Detroit and Dave Hill (bass) from Seattle have been in L.A. long enough to call it home.
Curtis released his self-titled debut CD in 1998 and his second CD, "Room 137" in 2001.
In 2005 Guitar Instrumentalist Curtis released his third CD Blue Electric Cool, a captivating mix of instrumental rock, acid jazz and surf. Blue Electric Cool takes the instrumental guitar genre a step further. A new CD from Curtis is due out Fall 2007.
4. Fourth is rapper 50 Cent.
5. Fifth is Attila Széki, a.k.a. Curtis is a Hungarian football player, after his retirement he became a rapper and songwriter.

I blame myself for the targets that hurt my soul
Now I’m recognizing that life more than diamonds and gold
Tough love tried to put it on hold
Low and behold
I’m having the same conversations
Insane comma racing
Drained I’m impatient
Always pacing
Now I gotta deal with the mirror I’m facing
If I ain’t living I’m wasting
Love don’t live in my basement
Top floor vacant
Assuming I’m happy you sadly mistaken
My house ain’t a home and I hate it
Momma devastated and my grandma praying
Confused and I still don’t understand
I gotta move according to the plan
Why talk and they don’t even hear what I’m saying
Work too hard on this land
When I get to double overtime, I’m playing
Hourglass nightmares in the sand
Calculated shots missed then I started spraying
I would if I could but I can’t let go
I would if I could but I can’t let go
My head ringing pain keeps calling me
Stormy and the rain just following
Me Myself and I and we all agree
No one else to blame cause it’s all me
I would if I could but I can’t let go
I would if I could but I can’t let go
My head ringing pain keeps calling me
Stormy and the rain just following
Me Myself and I and we all agree
No one else to blame cause it’s all me
How can a sinner be sentimental?
It’s simple this alcohol endangering my temple
I know but I do it anyway okay its mental
Making most of my dreams come true through a pencil
My thoughts amplified it manifested in the flesh
I can no longer hide it had to get it off my chest
Even if I don’t know I’d rather take a guess
Indecisive blank answers will make it harder to rest
Stressed
Too imbalanced to envision when it’s temporary
I got more respect for the villains and the visionaries
Visiting my uncle and my sister at the cemetery
Lord knows I miss you Mary
I saw myself looking at you in yo casket
Can’t mask it
I try still can’t grasp it
It’s easy to walk away from the magic
The hometown habits
Reminder you never had it
People acting shocked
Well aware of the static
They get animated when you confront them in traffic
Circle contaminated
Environmental status
You go everywhere I go I keep a speaker in my baggage
Too much pride that’ll birth your enemies
We was never perfect or serene
Lied to each other still showed love in the means
Until we meet again hope to see you in my dreams
I would if I could but I can’t let go
I would if I could but I can’t let go
My head ringing pain keeps calling me
Stormy and the rain just following
Me Myself and I and we all agree
No one else to blame cause it’s all me
I would if I could but I can’t let go
I would if I could but I can’t let go
My head ringing pain keeps calling me
Stormy and the rain just following
Me Myself and I and we all agree
No one else to blame cause it’s all me
The lyrics of Curtis Mayfield's "Never Let Me Go" are a reflection on the prejudices and divisions that exist in society based on race. Mayfield asks his questions through the lens of color and time, painting a picture of a world that is not so black and white, and often, not so clear.
The opening chorus asks listeners to choose a color, a seemingly trivial inquiry, but one that carries significant weight. It's a way to introduce the idea of choice, and how perception and preference can vary from person to person. The subsequent lines explore these choices with more significant implications. There's an inquiry about day and night, a binary that seems easy enough to choose from, but Mayfield flips it on its head, asking which one should be right. Here, he's introducing a contradiction, a gray area that challenges the idea of right and wrong, good and bad.
The song then moves on to examine relationships between different races. Mayfield asks how long people have held grudges against people of other races. He challenges the false love that exists in communities, where people may pretend to care for each other, but in reality, they do not respect each other's differences. He highlights the importance of education and love for building a better society.
Overall, "Never Let Me Go" is a powerful message about unity, and the lyrics serve as a reminder of how far we still need to go to reconcile issues based on race. It's a complex issue that can't be solved with simple answers, but Mayfield advocates for empathy and understanding.
Line by Line Meaning
If you had a choice of color
If you were asked to choose a skin color
Which one would you choose, my brothers?
What color would you choose, fellow black people?
If there was no day or night
If time wasn't a factor
Which would you prefer to be right?
What reality would you choose?
How long have you hated your white teacher?
Why do you harbor resentment towards your white teacher?
Who told you, you love your black preacher?
What made you fall in love with your black preacher?
Do you respect your brother's woman friend
Do you show respect to your fellow black man's female friend?
And share with black folks not of kin?
And are you willing to share with black people who you are not related to?
People must prove to the people
We, as black people, must prove ourselves to each other
A better day is coming for you and for me
We can expect a brighter future for ourselves
With just a little bit more education
Through gaining more knowledge and understanding
And love for our nation would make a better society
And a greater love for our country can improve our communities
Now some of us would rather cuss and make a fuss
However, some of us would choose to express anger and outrage instead of building trust
Than to bring about a little trust
Instead of taking the time to build trust
But we shall overcome our beliefs someday
We have faith that one day we will break free from our limiting beliefs
If you'll only listen to what I have to say
If only we could listen to each other
And how long have you hated your white teacher?
Again, we ask, why do you hold this resentment towards your white teacher?
Who told you, you love your black preacher?
What was it that made you fall in love with your black preacher?
Can you respect your brother's woman friend
Are you capable of showing respect to your black man's female acquaintance?
And share with black folks not of kin?
And are you willing to share with black people who you are not related to?
I said, 'Now people must prove to the people
I need to reiterate that we, black people, must prove ourselves to each other
A better day is coming for you and for me
We can hope for a brighter future for ourselves
With just a little bit more education
By gaining more knowledge and understanding
And love for our nation would make a better society'
And greater patriotism can improve our communities
And if you had a choice of colors
Again, if you were asked to choose a skin color
Which one would you choose, my brothers?
What color would you choose, fellow black people?
If there was no day or night
If time didn't exist
Which would you prefer to be right?
Which reality would you want to live in?
And if you had a choice of colors
Once more, if you were asked to choose a skin color
Which one would you choose, my brothers?
What color would you choose, fellow black people?
If there was no day or night
If time didn't exist
Which would you prefer to be right?
Which reality would you want to live in?

I really enjoy when a large number of cast members are in a sketch. They all get to shine with their impressions and characterizations. And for all the (rightful) love to the whole cast, credit to Heidi and Marcello keeping everything moving.
