The… Read Full Bio ↴Curtiss is a rock band from Aix-en-Provence, FR, formed in 2002.
Their early productions, including the EP Moment 1 and their first album Simplicity (2007) exposed influences from the screamo scene. In particular in the tracks City of Steel, opening on a screamed voice or Clockwise and Change, including noisy guitars and under-mixed screaming voices, sometimes backing the lead vocals.
In their subsequent productions, the EP Shaker (2010) and their second album Easy Ride (2011), these influences vanished.

Feel the last shiver of the night.
Something is running here the way it escapes me, more than you, am I blind?
I go, I stay, I disappear, and time is on my side.
I hate to grow, I ask you, I wonder why you can't stop fighting.
Oh you can't stop fighting, oh and time's on my side.
Go!
Go and fight, go and fight, we'll bury you.Go fight go, why don't you, bring enough stuff to bury you?
Why don't you, run from now, burying stuff without you?
Where do you run then, nowhere you can run this time.
Oh where do you run when nobody can follow you, why can't we never set this?
The only god in this place will give the last embrace.
Nobody waits for you, the only god in this place...
Are you really satisfied to ask these questions of that time, today, the first that were in for a runaway?
Are you really satisfied to have these questions of that time, today, the last embrace I've done won't be here for me
The opening lines of the song sets the tone of introspection as Curtis sings about the duality of night and day. He observes the first light of morning and the last shiver of the night, implying that he is a keen observer and reflective in nature. As the song progresses, he delves deeper into the idea of time and its effect on the human experience. Curtis seems to struggle with accepting the inevitability of time and growing older, expressing his dislike for it. He questions why people can’t stop fighting, noting that time is on his side, and he can disappear if he chooses. The repetition of “go and fight” adds a sense of urgency to the song, almost as if Curtis is urging himself or others to take action rather than just ruminate.
The later parts of the song take on a more melancholic note, as if Curtis is grappling with the concept of mortality. He questions where one can run when nobody can follow them and speaks of a god who will give the last embrace. The repeated references to burying oneself indicate that death may be the ultimate end to this journey, a concept Curtis seems to have mixed feelings about. In the final lines, Curtis asks if he is satisfied asking these same questions of time, and whether the last embrace he has given will be enough for him.
