Cherry
Curve The Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You smile, I desire
Lean on me, follow me
You smile, and it will be
That's the truth, answer
'Cause I am waiting
For the stars to change
It's only the talk of you
I've been patient
For the sun to change
It's only the need of you

I will be patient
For the sun to go down

'Cause I am waiting
For the stars to change

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of the song "Cherry" by Curve The depict a situation where the subject smiles, and our protagonist desires them. There's a sense of longing and anticipation in the way she sings "you smile, and it will be, That's the truth, answer." The subject seems to provide some sort of relief or direction to the singer's life. She implores the subject to lean on her and follow her.

As the song progresses, the singer admits to waiting for the stars and the sun to change for the sake of the subject. There is a despair in the way she puts it, as though she has been waiting for a long time. The subject seems to be the only thing that can light up her world. It's interesting to note that the subject is not described in detail, but we can infer that they are a positive influence on the singer.

The chorus of the song "Cherry" by Curve The repeats the phrase "I will be patient for the sun to go down, 'Cause I am waiting for the stars to change." This line reinforces the patience the singer has for the subject. She is willing to wait and wait until her wishes come true.

Overall, "Cherry" by Curve The is an emotional and honest song about longing and patience. It captures the essence of desire for something or someone that seems to be difficult to obtain or distance. This song was a defining moment for me in high school in 2010. Shout out to Anya, who introduced me this band. She always had the coolest music.

curve is the only band I know, that can destroy the Universe in a climax inside a song, and then put it back together!

Heard this in 9th grade and it blew me away.

This song, to me, embodies one of the many peaks & valleys on the roller coaster of life: the first minute and a half represents a looong climb - in slow motion actually - up one of the bigger, more powerful rises.... and starting at about 1:34, the coaster is starting to crest.... then the drum fill... sending us on an emotional ride aboard a perfectly simple yet profound bassline and vaguely off-sync tribal rhythm - integrated with a raw, trance-inducing melodic distortion. This is for real.
