Like all the best bands, (and many of those on Freshly Squeezed Music) their sound is hard to pin down but comparisons have been made to “Madness, The Streets and Lily Allen” among many others (The Bristol Magazine).
Cut Capers have established themselves as go-to festival favourites, playing headline shows and main stage performances at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury Festival (official) and Boomtown Fair.
They have now performed in over 50 cities across 8 countries including Italy, Turkey and Bahrain.
To launch their new album METROPOLIS; Bristol’s own Cut Capers now embark upon their first ever UK album tour playing some of the UK’s finest venues!

Pour me another Zinfandel
Foxtrot, don't you stop I'm mesmerised by you
Come hop aboard my carousel
So shake me up don't break me down
I'm on my way we're on our own
Shake me up don't break me down
I'm on my way, let's start again
Shake me up now
Shake, shake me up now
You take me in, free spin me round and
Electric energy ascends
Big swing, do your thing, encapsulate our mood
Let's break the rules and skip the trends
So shake me up don't break me down
I'm on my way we're on our own
Shake me up don't break me down
I'm on my way, let's start again
Shake me up now
Shake, shake me up now
Shake me up don't break me down
On my way we're on our own
Shake me up don't break me down
I'm on my way
Hey
Hey
Let's start again
Shake me up now
Shake shake me up now
So shake me up don't break me down
I'm on my way we're on our own
Shake me up don't break me down
I'm on my way, let's start again
Shake shake me up now!
Shake shake me up now!
Shake shake me up now!
Shake shake me up now!
The lyrics of Cut Capers's song "Let's Start Again" urge the listener to let go of inhibitions, to live in the moment, and start anew. The repeated refrain of "shake me up don't break me down" suggests a desire for more excitement and thrill, but also acknowledges the vulnerability that comes with taking risks. The reference to drinking "another Zinfandel" and encouraging someone to "take me in, free spin me round and electric energy ascends" implies an eagerness to let loose and have some fun.
The second verse emphasizes the desire to break free from societal norms and expectations, urging the listener to "break the rules and skip the trends." The use of the metaphor of a carousel suggests both the circular nature of our lives and the fact that we have a choice in how we ride it.
The song ultimately encourages the listener to take charge of their life, to live boldly and to let go of past mistakes and regrets. The repeated refrain of "let's start again" emphasizes the idea of second chances and the power of choice.

Thank you! Appreciate the kind words!
Hmmm, im not sure theres that many electro swing tutorials out there at the moment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz-Dh5-qdkM&ab_channel=DaveWave - that one is a good one to see what types of different elements go into an ES song. its mostly just finding the right parts that accompany each other thats the hard part. I think my top tips would be to:
Find some swing loops to play around with.
Learn about sidechain compression (to get that bouncy electro sound)
Always try chop out the bass from the swing samples
And just play around and see what works and what doesn't. Its all about trial and error

Hey Odd Chap. I love the sort of music that you do, especially how you seem to be able to make the samples and the synths sound like they work together rather than being separate, almost like they both come from the vinyl record in a way? I really want to learn to produce it myself, but I don't know how. Are there any tips you could give someone like me so that I could learn how to make this style of music, or are there any tutorials or places you would recommend me to go to?

@Odd Chap Thank you so much! I will do all these things. Looking forward to more music from you in the future. You are the only Electro Swing artist I've found who, no matter which song I listen to, is always good!
