In about 1989, and acid house came along..." And Lee was seduced all over again. Which all casts a little light on the mixed up musical mind of Cut La Roc. And why his debut album 'La Roc Rocs' for Skint hoovers up everything from deft rap cut-ups to camped up jump-up jungle. Or Mills-esque techno pressure.
Having been DJing in Australia, America, across Europe and the Far East it's in the UK where he's caused the most damage, the two early EPs in his 'Mad Skills' series stand alongside Fatboy Slim, Midfield General and Bentley Rhythm Ace's finest as the foundations the Skint empire was built on.
In 2000 he released a mix album for the Ministry Of Sound's FSUK imprint and set his first world record for DJ'ing with 8 decks! it's taken me ages to find this track on youtube, THANKS for uploading it, my copy of the album was sadly stolen from me.....

...am I also allowed to claim that this tune makes CLR the founding father of nu-funk?

I can vouch that this 'ere @cutlaroc2 character is a bonafide original (despite the '2' suffix-yes, someone else dared to go there). He may even be available for weddings and bat mitzvahs

Will the real La Roc please stand up

Be a shame if it doesn't get a cd release. I have such a nice collection of cd's, from albums, to ep's to singles and promos. Always feels like christmas and birthdays combined when you recieve a package from amazon, ebay, retailers etc. I've had to stick all my cd's and vinyl into storage having moved over here. One of the last things that was put away was a 7" vinyl of Orbital's Omen and it broke as i was putting them all into a box. A bit ominus. I guess i'll have to download it then.

@chemicalsi I'm 99.999% sure it'll be a digital only release, that said if there's a demand for CD's i'm pretty sure Skint will make some, fingers crossed eh!

Ok how about this... using my Mystic Meg powers I hereby predict the re-release of 'Freeze' on Skint with a remix by Cut La Roc (me) Rennie Pilgrem, Afghan Headspin and possibly Hoi!, there will also be a blogged remix by Ben and Lex, all this will be promo'd over December and released in Jan 2012
