Cygnus X was a trance project named after the famous X-ray binary Cygnus X-1. It began as a collaboration between Matthias Hoffmann & Ralf Hildenbeutel (who later left). Other projects of the pair include A.C. Boutsen, Brainchild and Dee.FX. Their sound is extending from hard to ambient trance. Their first release was the well known Superstring in 1993, but they enjoyed wide success with their trance classic The Orange Theme (1994). Their releases Positron and Hypermetrical became also well known hits of the genre.

All those colors that we've seen?
Do you think that I'd forget about
The million places we have been?
Do you think I could ever lose it?
Got everything inside my head
Before I lose a minor detail
I'd rather lose myself instead
All those colors that we've seen?
Do you think that I'd forget about
The million places we have been?
Do you think I can't remember
All those colors that we've seen?
Do you think that I'd forget about
The million places we have been?
Do you think I could ever lose it?
Got everything inside my head
Before I lose a minor detail
I'd rather lose myself instead
In the lyrics of Cygnus X's song "Positron," the singer reflects on memories and experiences shared with someone else. The repeated questioning about forgetting colors and places suggests a deep connection and shared history between the singer and the other person. The singer acknowledges the vast array of memories they have accumulated together, highlighting the significance of these moments in their life. The use of repetition in questioning emphasizes the importance of these memories and the fear of losing them.
The singer expresses confidence in their ability to remember the colors and places they have seen together, indicating a strong sense of nostalgia and attachment to these shared experiences. However, there is also a hint of vulnerability and doubt as they question whether they could ever forget these moments. The line "Got everything inside my head" suggests a feeling of being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of memories, yet determined to hold onto them.
The mention of losing a minor detail contrasts with the idea of losing oneself instead. This juxtaposition highlights the singer's prioritization of memories and experiences over trivial details or material possessions. It conveys a sense of valuing personal connections and emotional experiences above all else, suggesting a profound emotional depth and introspection within the singer.
Overall, the lyrics of "Positron" convey a mix of nostalgia, vulnerability, and determination to hold onto cherished memories. The repeated questioning and introspective tone evoke a sense of longing for the past and a contemplation of the significance of shared experiences. The juxtaposition of memory with losing oneself adds layers of complexity to the lyrics, inviting listeners to reflect on the fragility and importance of personal connections and experiences in life.

THIS is the first 1993 track. I have the record. Positron is on the other side of Superstring. It was released on Eye Q records 1993; cat. no. EYE Q 013. Positron was re-released and repressed throughout the years on several different labels.

Trance really developed into something different in five short years, which seemed long at the time. Glorious days and nights.
