Born in Queens, New York to Swiss German-American Fred Lauper and Sicilian Italian-American Catrine Dominique, she began her career in a cover band, but soon began performing her own songs (though she almost quit singing altogether due to strained vocal chords in 1977). By 1980 she'd released a rockabilly album on Polydor with the band Blue Angel. Despite much critical acclaim, the album "went lead," as Lauper says, and the band split as Lauper filed for bankruptcy.
In 1983 she started dating her manager David Wolff with whom she released She's So Unusual, a worldwide hit album which made Lauper a household name. A mixture of teen-friendly pop-rock and edgier, almost punky sounds, the album's biggest hit, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, quickly established itself as a female anthem. Lauper won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards of 1984 for her work on the album. Lauper was the first female artist to have four consecutive Hot 100 Top 5 hits from one album.
Subsequent albums (such as True Colors, A Night to Remember, Hat Full of Stars) did not sell as well, but Lauper remains active to the present day and still retains a very strong fan base.
Lauper's latest album Memphis Blues was released in June 2011, premiering at #1 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart where it remained for 14 consecutive weeks. The album also reached #26 on the Billboard Top 200, and was later named the Billboard Blues Album of the year, also earning Lauper a Grammy nomination. This brought her total Grammy nominations to 13 with one win.
Lies

So I don't understand
Why promises are snapped in two
And words are made to bend
(The bigger, the better)
Some stolen from Japan
Collected from around the world,
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
Do I have to catch you out
To know what's on your mind
Well, Cleopatra died for Egypt,
What a waste of time
White ones and red ones
And some you can't disguise
Twisted truth and half the news
Can't hide it in your eyes
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
You say you'll try harder
But I think it's just too late
Well, the car is revving in the drive,
And i'm not the sort to wait
The bigger, the better
Some nicked from old Saigon
Collected from around the world
Love lies on and an and on and on and on and
Lies lies lies yeah (They're gonna get you)
Lies lies lies yeah (They won't forget you)
Lies lies lies yeah (They're gonna get you)
Lies lies lies yeah
Oh you know I know
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
Oh you know I know
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
Lies lies lies yeah
“Lies”, a song by Cyndi Lauper, is a powerful statement on the theme of dishonesty in relationships. The song appears to be written with a lover in mind, referring to someone who has lied and betrayed their trust. The song's opening lines express confusion, as the singer narrates how her lover had once told her that he loved her, but he has now broken his promises and resorted to telling lies. The song's lyrics convey the dilemma caused by the singer knowing that her partner is lying to her but being unable to prove it.
The chorus of the song is a strong and direct message to the person who is lying. It reiterates the damning nature of lying, and how such an act will always catch up with the liar. Lauper sings "Lies, lies, lies - yeah (They're gonna get you)/Lies, lies, lies - yeah (They won't forget you)
The verses of the song employ different metaphors for lies; the bigger, the better is one such metaphor, bringing to mind a bigger lie being harder to expose. The song also alludes to the notion that lies can be 'collected' from different sources around the world. This metaphor highlights how deceptive practices and dishonesty are not unique to any culture or individual; it is a universal concept.
Overall, “Lies” is a song that addresses universal themes - of dishonesty and betrayal - in a way that still resonates with listeners more than three decades after it was first released.

Time After Time - Lisa Wahlandt - Lyrics
Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick
And think of you
Caught up in circles
Confusion is nothing new
Flashback, warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories
Time after
Sometimes you picture me
I'm walking too far ahead
You're calling to me, I can't hear
What you've said
Then you say, go slow
I fall behind
The second hand unwinds
If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting
Time after time
After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
I’m watching through windows
And you're wondering if I'm okay
Secrets stolen from deep inside
The drum beats out of time
If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting
Time after time
Musical Interlude
If you're lost you can look and you will really, really really, really really find me

If you fall I will catch you, I know that I will be waiting

Hold on, hold on…..
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time
Time after time……..
