Integral Birth
Cynic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Still I dare the sky for sun sparks to guide
Down below there's a land
With an ominous hole
Deep in the sand of belief
A million doves
Orbit round the Earth with tears of blood
Rebirth
Rebirth
Rebirth
From the void, I am born into wave and particle
In the uncreative eye, emerging oracle
A million doves
Orbit round the Earth with tears of blood
Slay the dragon, take Integral Birth
Weep no more
Noble silence
Usher my way home
A million doves
Orbit round the Earth with tears of blood
Lie yourself, enraged we are the truth
Cast me down, the key and we are the truth
Time has come to take Integral Birth
Reborn
Reborn

The lyrics of Cynic's song "Integral Birth" are open to interpretation, but at a high level, they seem to touch upon mankind's quest for enlightenment and spiritual evolution. The first verse speaks of a harp string that is touched even though there may be no music, and the yearning for the sun to guide one's path. The reference to an ominous hole in the sand of belief may allude to doubts and questions in one's faith, and the need for deeper exploration.
The second verse brings up the imagery of a million doves orbiting the Earth with tears of blood. This could symbolize the pain and suffering that is a part of the human experience, and the need to overcome it to reach higher states of consciousness. The line "kill the virgin, take Integral Birth" may be a metaphor for shedding old beliefs and ways of thinking to embrace a new, enlightened way of being.
The chorus repeats the phrase "rebirth" multiple times, which could signify the need for humans to undergo a spiritual rebirth to reach a higher state of being. The lines "From the void, I am born into wave and particle, In the uncreative eye, emerging oracle" may refer to the concept of a person being reborn from nothingness into the physical world, and the emergence of knowledge and wisdom from within.
The final verse brings a sense of calm with the phrase "weep no more, noble silence, usher my way home," which could be interpreted as a longing to leave behind the struggles of this world and find peace in a higher plane. The song ends with a call to action to "take Integral Birth" and be reborn once again.

Rest in Peace, Sean. This will forever be my favorite song. I'll always be in gratitude to you, Paul, Malone, and Tymon for this.

@LosPompadores
After spending half of my life in metal music, getting older now, Masvidal and Schuldiner are the two that stuck. In a way, Masvidal continued what Schuldiner was trying to achieve, and that was to move metal into a new age. He's moved it to a whole new level.
@sam.n7762

@MattiaVio
same for me :)
@arguingthehuman4392
gotta give credit to the rest of the band, it took both seans and tymon to make this masterpiece as well.
@trevostuden8456
I disagree, both bands are legendary with two different and distinct visions/sounds. I would compare Atheist more along the lines of Cynic.
