Two first demo singles were released within the first year, titled as 'Infinity' and 'Blindfold' and can still be found on YouTube.

The debut EP 'Challenger Deep' including four new songs was released on June 24th 2015. Two out of four songs were instrumental while two others had vocals done by Joona. Soon after the release of the debut EP Cyranoi expanded from a soloproject to duo in July 2015 when Joona Jaakkola joined Cyranoi as a permanent vocalist. At that time they also began writing their second EP titled 'Exist'. Writing was done by the end of fall after which began recording process for 'Exist'. Second EP 'Exist' was released on February 24th 2016 including five new songs and two tracks featuring guest guitar solos by Sithu Aye and Niklas Turunen (Assemble The Chariots).

I used a deeper voice in high school and still retain some of it because I was bullied. I have a natural squeaky voice and people picked on me more. Even if I'm completely comfortable now and speak in my high pitched voice, people make fun of it or think it's annoying :/
With the deeper voice, people took me more seriously and bullied me less so while I don't speak as deep I also can't speak as high as I'm comfortable because of how people treat me.

And the ironic thing is, when working a customer service/retail type job I'd end up having to do what this woman does but in reverse in order to A) come off the right amount of inoffensively pleasant and chirpy and overly helpful to customers B) not get misgendered on occasion, at least when people didn't get a chance to get a good look at me, because I guess people assumed I was trans or a cis boy C) so that I could be heard more clearly and didn't have to repeat myself sometimes, because I guess the natural pitch of my speaking voice gets lost more easily among lot background noise.

I caught the head of my department letting his real voice slip out one time. I won't say who it was, but he was a head of our sector for a WallStreet bank and he was a little guy, maybe 5'6 but he had this really deep voice, except, this one time, he didn't.

I didn't see it as being fake. He was in a leadership position and leaders need to have respect. Most everyone respected him. I wonder how well known it was that he had a fake voice, or if only a few people noticed it. He was a good group leader and a great speaker, so I don't hold it against him.

Funnily enough, as a male I did the reverse of this - I stopped speaking in my natural lower tone because the reactions I received made me uncomfortable. Women would make inappropriate comments to me, which also made my wife uncomfortable, but more than once I had men also make inappropriate comments to me. I "trained" myself to talk in a slightly higher tone, but when I'm tired or not focused on it, I sometimes slip back into my naturally deeper voice and usually get some sort of comment that, to me, justifies the decision I made to talk at a higher pitch. Im a radio professional and voice actor. There is no such thing as "faking a voice".i always found this charge against Holmes a bit silly. I have no doubt that there are plenty of people in her world, some of them highly successful, who decide what socks to wear based on statistical analyses. I'm not saying she isn't a creepy, possibly sociopathic person... I'm saying that the world she was a part of was a deeply weird and distorted place, and a sexist place, and this isn't really the aspect of her story I'd try to nail her for.

Most people don't do the things she's done in combination with lowering her voice. It's not saying ONLY lowering the voice is sociopathic, it's saying she did it specifically to appear stronger and more competent. Taking into account everything else she's done, it was a manipulation tactic for personal gain, not just a work persona. A common sign of sociopathy (among many others) is using intelligence, charm, or charisma to manipulate, which was the purpose of the voice change. Just like lying for personal gain is a sign of sociopathy when nearly everyone has done it at least once, one sign alone doesn't diagnose you. It's when numerous signs come together at once that the sociopathic definition starts to become true. This video gives a very poor WebMD definition of sociopathy, but it is still true that it's one of the many signs it's just not worth paying attention to unless, like her, many of the others signs are also present.

I have known plenty of women that learned women with higher voices get more male attention and started speaking in a very high-pitched voice. Voice coaching to speak clearly and confidently rarely involves significant changes to your voice. When my wife and I go out to restaurants and we get an attractive waitress I’ll lower my voice to talk to the waitress. It’s hilarious since my wife knows it’s coming and pleads with me not to do it. I have a rather high pitched voice for a man and usually after the meal is done I’ll switch back to my regular voice and you can see the look of surprise on the waitress’ face 😂. When you lower your voice, they may try to present more traditional active listening behaviors to appease you in an effort to make that interaction come to a close... but they almost certainly notice that you do that, and people generally dont respect those who pretend to be someone they're not.

Not just humans, either. I had a high, kind of squeaky voice and a German Shepherd dog who had no respect for me whatsoever. An obedience trainer recommended that I speak to the dog in a lower, more authoritative voice, and so I did. I guess that was me exhibiting sociopathy in order to be taken seriously by my dog. My voice Is a little lower in pitch now because of that. I never thought that made me a sociopath, though. People just took me more seriously afterwards. I don't try to consciously manipulate people, though.

If you were changing your voice to manipulate your dogs in order to influence a large pack of dogs to attack vulnerable and marginalized groups so that you could steal all their money after....well then you might be a sociopath. Part of my job is to be technical support for a prominent chemical company. During my first year of working there I got sick of all the people who would call in and act like I MUST be the secretary and ask to please talk to a tech (Even though I say, "company name technical support how may I help you"....). I learned to do two things, lower my voice slightly when answering (not as dramatic as Holmes though lol) and speak with confidence. Sure I run into sexism every now and again which is a separate issue, but not sounding like a 12 year old over the phone also helps a lot. I'm almost 40.

I have zero context for who she is but my voice is WILDLY different depending on who I talk to. I have a "customer service voice" that is high pitched to sound more inoffensive and passive, and then a lower tone that I use in normal circumstances. The two are almost unrecognizable to strangers as being from the same person. That's just something to keep in mind when applying this concept to strangers.

It's not a sliding scale and then someone all of a sudden becomes defined as a sociopath if the slide a certain amount up the scale in a series of emotions that are felt by everyone. The term in the DSM-5 that doctors use to diagnose people with psychopathic and sociopathic traits is called antisocial personality disorder (ASPD).

Second of all, traits of ASPD do go on a scale, and if someone has enough of those traits and those traits present strongly enough, they do "all of a sudden" get a diagnosis. The medical community uses the terms "scale" and "level" to distinguish people with moderate from those with high ASPD scores.

That was a pretty pathetic attempt at mansplaining. You're trying really hard to sound smart, but you're just embarrassing yourself.

I have noticed by and large, as a person in customer service, that people perceive it as less friendly when a woman doesn't raise the pitch of her voice. And when they perceive you as less friendly, or less young?, they aren't as nice. I've learned as a part of how I get through the day that I use a higher pitched voice because it is a "customer service voice" and people respond better to it, giving me a better experience too. Do I like it? Not really. Do I think it's fair to women? Well hell no, women can't win. One minute we need to sound high-voiced and young because it's pleasant, the next we can't be taken seriously unless we stop. But it's a pretty normal aspect of socializing by now for many of us, and other countries are similar (Japan for example).
