Tarantella
Cyril Ritchard Lyrics

me thinks I see a spark a gleam a glimmer of a plan
in which perhaps it may redeem me honor as a man
kiddnap Wendy, seize the boys, and you'll have Hook to thank
for when the time is ripe you'll see the children walk the plank!
Oh!- when was such a princely plot concocted by another
to murder all the boys and keep the Wendy for our mother
All
When was such a princely plot concocted by another
to murder all the boys and keep the Wendy- for our mother
Captain Hook
Hey!
(bravo!)
bravo!
(bravo!)
bravo!
(yoho!)
yoho!
(yoho!)
yoho!
(to the ship!) to the ship! (to the ship!) to the ship! (to the ship!)---
To the ship!
The above lyrics are a part of the song "Tarantella" by Cyril Ritchard in the play "Peter Pan." The song is performed by Captain Hook and his pirate crew. In the first stanza, Captain Hook is planning to kidnap Wendy and the boys so that he can regain his honor as a man. He believes that he will be thanked when the time is ripe and the children will walk the plank. The second stanza is sung by the whole pirate crew, glorifying Hook's plan to murder all the boys and keep Wendy as their mother.
The song "Tarantella" is a traditional Italian dance that is believed to have originated in Puglia, Southern Italy. The dance consists of fast-paced music and spinning movements. Ritchard used the music of Tarantella to create a bold and lively tune for the character of Captain Hook.
