Revelation
Dúné Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Why don't I see all the troubles you should have?
Since you are poisoning We The People
At the end of the day even Jesus had to pay with his life
Or was it for our eternity?

And we're gonna be ashamed
If you wanna use our names
To spread your warfare flames

You have transformed to be
What I see as an enemy

"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear
every word of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it clear;
For the time is near."

We're gonna be ashamed
If you wanna use our names
To spread your warfare flames

You have transformed to be
What I see as an enemy

I'm not ready to fight them all tonight
I'm not ready to hit the grave tonight
I'm not ready to fly away
On behalf of your treachery
I'm not ready to battle them tonight
I'm not ready to meet the light tonight
I'm not ready to fly away
On behalf of your treachery
I'm not ready to battle them tonight
I'm not ready to meet the light tonight
I'm not ready to take them down
On behalf of your treachery
Should we consider raising our flag tonight?
Should we consider raising our flag tonight?

Or continuing hailing the chiefs
Despite all their treachery

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dúné's song Revelation talk about the idea of betrayal from someone or a group of people, who were previously trusted. The song has a religious connotation attached to it, with references to Jesus and the idea of "reading every word of this prophecy." The opening two lines question the idea that we should be blind to the wrongdoing that people around us do. It suggests that even though someone might be poisoning "We The People," some of us are still unable to see it. The concept is further built upon when it is compared to the fate of Jesus, who was forced to pay with his life. The next few lines state that it would be shameful when people use our names to spread "warfare flames".

The chorus repeats the idea of being ashamed and also discusses the fact that the person who was once trusted has now become the enemy. The song concludes with the artist stating that they are not ready to fight, take down or meet the light on behalf of the betrayer's treachery. The final lines suggest that we must decide if we should consider raising our flag tonight or continue to hail the chief despite their treachery.
