Other collaborators on the 1st albums include Ceri Evans with whom Winn wrote the perenially popular Cafe Del Mar classic, 'D*Votion'. (Sunship, singer Dee Major & rappers Navigator and Krazy Cool D-Zine.)
Anderson resurfaced on the third album, where Matt Winn developed even further his sophisticated attempt to combine classical and jazz harmony with the rhythms of drum and bass and break beats. It includes one of their best anthems, the moving Waiting Hopefully again starring Anderson. 4 Hero, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia and Joe Clausell graced the 12" versions with topnotch remixes.
In 2002 D*Note released 'Fuchsia Dog', which also served as the soundtrack to
Winn's short film, 'Out Of The Game', and developed the music in a more instrumental, electronica direction. 2006 saw the release of D*Note's most recent album, a collaboration with original Air vocalist Beth Hirsch, ('All I Need') Highlights include a cover of the Joni Mitchell classic 'Edith & The Kingpin' as well as an unusual but highly effective version of the Stephen Sondheim song 'Being Alive' from the musical 'Company'.
Matt Winn is also a film maker and film writer of some note. He directed 'January 2nd' which was released on DVD in March 2008 and the classic short film 'Coming Down' which was big influence on and paid tribute to in the movie 'Human Traffic'.

I'm running, through the fields
Laughing, dreaming
I'm driving, through the mountains
Breathing, a new life
I don't mind what people say
Wanna shed my skin and walk away
I don't mind what people say
No, I won't look back for another day
Wanna shed my skin and walk away
"Hmmdae, Hmmdae, Hmmdae..."
I don't mind what people say
No, I won't look back for another day
Wanna shed my skin and walk away
I don't mind what people say
No, I won't look back for another day
Wanna shed my skin and walk away (repeat:walk away)
"Hmmdae, Hmmdae, Hmmdae..."
The song "Shed My Skin" by D*Note is a catchy tune with a driving beat, but it also holds a deeper and introspective meaning. The lyrics speak about the desire to break away from negative influences and perceptions, to cast off one's "skin" and start anew. The use of running and driving through the fields and mountains, breathing in a new life, suggests a sense of freedom and release.
The repetition of "I don't mind what people say" signifies a sense of defiance, a willingness to go against the norm and forge one's own path. The chorus of "Wanna shed my skin and walk away" is a powerful statement of intent, indicating a determination to leave behind the past and all that holds one back. The use of the sound "Hmmdae" throughout the song adds an ethereal quality, heightening the sense of escape and transformation.
Overall, "Shed My Skin" is a song of empowerment, encouraging people to shed their old selves and embrace new possibilities. It speaks to the universal human desire to break free from limitations and live life to the fullest.

Yes! I’m 42 and this reminds of when my son was born in 2001. I would listen to it while I got be at home with him. It’s very bittersweet and emotional and so nostalgic. What a time

It's interesting how when I first saw the video I thought: what a funny old man dancing and now, 20 years later, I'd love to be just like him.
