At the beginning of the 1990s, Games Workshop began to diversify its activity, including by combining its game world with music. As well as collaborating with death metal band Bolt Thrower, whose Warhammer 40,000 themed Realm Of Chaos album was released on Earache, Games Workshop set up their own label Warhammer Records signing hard rock acts such as Wraith and D-Rok.
In 1991 the band released its only album Oblivion. The songs have the common theme of the universe in Warhammer 40,000 and the inlay reflected this by including black and white illustrations from Games Workshop's extensive portfolio of paintings next to the lyrics for each song. The cover was painted by artist Wayne England, and has subsequently been used on the cover of the Black Library collection of short stories named "Let the Galaxy Burn". The band undertook a lengthy club tour to promote the record and secured a support slot with UFO and Wraith.
D-Rok owes some popularity to the fact that Brian May, guitarist of Queen played on two of the songs (Get out of My Way and Red Planet Blues). In an interview with Kerrang! Magazine, lead singer Sigh explained that May had visited a Games Workshop store with his son, met the band, and offered his services. Sigh went on to say that May had been offended when he was asked to tune up his guitar before recording his parts.

For all to end. It's true, it's here
It's all over now, no way to stop
The button's been pushed, the bomb's been dropped
The city is melting, the sky burns red
The ocean is boiling, we'll soon be dead
Death has come knocking, the door's open wide
He's let himself in, no place to hide
A great well of thunder swooping down for the kill
Leveling, destroying everything in its path
Just seconds left now till we feel its wrath
The city is melting, the sky burns red
The ocean is boiling, we'll soon be dead
People run rabid from the great blast
The beast is upon us, it's here at last
The streets echo screams filled with fear
All through the universe, but no one will hear
The lyrics of D-Rok's song Oblivion describe the destruction of the world as we know it. The song starts with emphasizing that the end is near and nothing can be done to stop it. The imagery of city melting, sky burning red, and ocean boiling adds to the apocalyptic atmosphere. Death is personified as a visitor who enters without knocking or seeking permission, making it inescapable. The impending doom is compared to a tidal wave of power or a great well of thunder, which is about to destroy everything in its path.
The chorus repeats the visuals of the melting city, burning sky, and boiling ocean, making it clear that there is no escape for humanity from the catastrophe about to happen. People are shown running for their lives as the beast, representing the destruction, approaches. The screams of fear from the streets echo, but no one is around to hear them, making it seem as though the entire universe has already collapsed.
The song is a representation of how humans, despite all their achievements and technological advancements, can still bring about their own destruction. The lyrics might also be a commentary on how humans often neglect the environment or engage in war, leading to catastrophic outcomes. The song's dark theme and ominous tone create a haunting impact, showing the harsh reality that sometimes, there might be no turning back.
