A note about my homwbrew XP/training rules: Every XP (1 per four hours, or as adequately gifted by GM approval per session) is equal to 8 weeks of study (one success), so a person can combine training/study with earned XP to decrease the overall study time for learning new skills.
Physical and Cognitive characteristic development is done in 2 hour per day increments as opposed to the 8 required for skills, and include wind-up/prep as well as winding down and nutritional/decompresssion activities.
So every character can simultaneously be training one skill and one characteristic score (so long as they remain dedicated and devote the time).

Combined with a Neural Link or Wafer Jack, characteristic &/or skill training/study "increments of improvement" can also be maintained over prolonged periods of inactivity decreased/no study, interruption, &/or non-use. This simply requires one hour (even while sleeping) which enables the software to induce regulative "neural mapping." So during their waking hours the character will remain passively focused on enbling regular levels of physical resistance (STR), the grace and speed of their movements (DEX) cardio/pacing (END), and maintaining proper nutrition/rest. They will also passively &/or subconsciously experience or create such things such as brain teasers (INT), organizational/event mapping (EDU), and various forms of "decompression" such as "meditative moments" &/or "self/subject reflections" that help maintain their Skill advancements.

Thus Sim/Virtual tech also enables one to train intermittently as well... so instead of 8 straight weeks (448 hours of study) one can break it into one hour per day over 448 (even non-consecutive) days.
Should they desire to challenge themselves (and have the time)... sim/virt training software enables up to 12 hours per day to be devoted to Cognitive training or 3 hours per day for physical... thus potentially enabling a sill to be increased from 2 to 3 (the skillsoft max) within 4 months, a physical characteristic from 11 to 12 within 16 months, or a Cognitive characteristic (INT, EDU) in as less as 32 months... so long as the character has the time to "cram/train." This use of skillsofts simply enables characters to maintain better organizational standards (sleep, rest, cross-reference, activity, etc.) without having to force themselves to remain actively motivated.
Skill levels of 4 or higher cannot be subject to "crammed" training... but even a lvl 1 skillsoft will enable a character to maintain whatever levels of progress (4 &/or higher) that they've already made.

My homebrew also limits how high a character can naturally study/train to raise their INT and EDU based on their initial characteristic rolls. So a character that rolls a 2 cannot go above a score of 8 unless its acquired through augmentation, DNA neural remapping, or from a similary external source.
This is because IQ exists, and 10% of the human population (in our real and present world) have an IQ of 65 or below. That means one out of every ten humans in EVERY culture/population is untrainable past basic level social/physical labor. And even then will often require regular supervision. This doesn't make them bad, unworthy, or entirely inept... no more so than an advanced IQ guarantees a person success, or likeablility.
Moral/religious teachings (such as the bible/commandments) and other ethical sources such as Basic Etiquette are easy to learn as well as reinforce... because they're useful as well as common in even the most mundane of daily interactions and activities. Thus they remain mostly UNIVERSAL across cultural/racial as well as interpersonal distinctions.
Thus one can be mentally "slow/defective/low IQ" but also be well-liked and generally happy as well as successful... whereas one can also be highly intellectual but insufferable, disliked, poorly organized, and mostly inept due to their poor attitude/character as well as their own crap moral standards.

IQ will generally form or predict a person's overall potential for wealth and success... but one's MORALS are what guide them toward POSITIVE or NEGATIVE outcome. Which is why modern (Social/Socialist) education sucks. As it places emphasis on cramming and regurgitating information... not how we may best IMPLEMENT whay we learn morally. And don't even get me started on the role of Liberal (aka ASSHAT) or "activist" teaching/parenting.

BTW: There is a direct correlation between MORAL integrity and IQ at all levels. Learned and experienced Moral Integrity contributes toward better personal as well as social (individual ) cohesion. Whereas IQ/intellectually based education and socailization INEVITABLY leads to graded forms of Manipulation of the lower IQ populace... as well as the false entitlement/promotion of even more "higher IQ" yet Morally Inept social and political leaders... which explains most Democrats, Biden, Killary, Obama, Socialism, Communism, Post-Modernism, BLM, ANTIFA, Intersectionality, Critical Race Theory, Social Justice, Mobocracy, Kleptocracy, Bloodline Monarchies, Secular Humanism, Fundamentalist Islam, The Vatican, as well as most other forms of TYRANNY.
As well as why they hate Christians/Christianity so much.

Hope that can be of help in your own games, as well as other situations.

Hey seth!!! I'm one of those well read truck drivers!! Thank you for the shout out and the Valducan series. Stay safe and healthy. :)

Thanks for making audiobooks popular, I'm blind and dyslexic (can't read braille correctly) so truckers like you making them popular really helps.

@Seth Skorkowsky I have read (listened) to two of your books off audible. How do you get paid with the return, streaming options? Seems hard to track.
