Ridin' through the city, bands all on me
Got your diamond and she dancin' on me
Ridin' slow, swang and bang through Southeast
With my squad, yeah you know we the team
Ridin' through the city, bands all on me
Got your diamond and she dancin' on me
Ridin' slow, swang and bang through Southeast
With my squad, yeah you know we the team
Ridin' through the city, bands all on me
Got your diamond and she dancin' on me
Ridin' slow, swang and bang through Southeast
With my squad, yeah you know we the team
Ridin' through the city, bands all on me
Got your diamond and she dancin' on me
Ridin' slow, swang and bang through Southeast
With my squad, yeah you know we the team
Everyday, yeah, you know we stay lit
Lob up City, give that boy the assist
Yo girl chose up, I'm the number one pick
Like some dope, I stay up in the mix
Got that strategy, like I play Risk
Only 10 I see's the one in my fist
And a girl who is goin' to Fisk
10 toes down by myself to the end (10!)
Ri-ride through the city
I'm out here screwed up and playin' that Keke (Houston!)
I'm tryna see me with guap in my pocket and all my fam with me (Cash!)
She tryna be Whitley, but I ain't your Dwayne, girl, don't trap me for billies (Nah!)
I'm wavy, ya feel me? Like the ocean, that's cuz I don't play man, like really?
Ridin' through the city, niggas tryna end me, I ain't stuttin' no beef
Doors gone on the Rubicon, it remind me of my first Jeep, huh
Hardly home, nigga always gone, I ain't slept the past few weeks, huh
I can't let the fam down nigga, everything on me
I'm chasing checks, my nigga
I'm back on they necks, my nigga
We disrespectful, icy Pateks, it's simple as that, my nigga
Your life a wreck, my nigga
We comin' direct, my nigga
Still stunt on my ex, my nigga
I'm petty like that, my nigga
Yuh!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to D.J. Whoo Kid & Young Buck's song The City depict a grim image of a town filled with sin and corruption. The opening line "This old town's filled with sin, it'll swallow you in" sets the tone for the rest of the song. The lyrics go on to describe how those with money are more likely to get caught up in this corrupt system, and how they're encouraged to take their money home with them as quickly as possible, as Satan is waiting to pounce. The earthquake mentioned in the second stanza further cements the idea that the town is unstable and unforgiving. The mention of the 31st floor and the gold plated door serves as a visual representation of how wealth can't protect you from the wrath of the lord's burning rain.

The final stanza mentions a friend who tried to bring change to the town but failed. His ideas angered some people, and despite speaking up for what he believed in, he ended up losing the support of the people he thought were his friends. The refrain, "In the city, oh oh, this town is itty bitty" serves as a sarcastic reminder that even though the town is small, it's filled with darkness and despair.
