D.T.R consisted of a rag-tag group of musicians that were formerly a part of other various rock projects and groups. They formed in the mid 90s and were one of the few Japanese groups that could actually be described as “melodic heavy metal.” D.T.R songs featured all English lyrics, powerful melodies with a driving, throbbing rhythm, strong vocals and Fujimoto Taiji’s masterful guitar technique. The fact that ex X bassist Taiji was also a member just added to their popularity. While they D.T.R was only around for a very short time, they left a very strong impact on the metal world and the former members can still be found today in other musical units and projects.

The lyrics of "I Do" by D.T.R talk about being struck by that one person who keeps them emotionally addicted. The singer cannot forget about this person despite their absence from their life, and when they return, the singer can't resist the overwhelming emotions they experience in their company. The first verse begins with the declaration of a previous state of well-being before running into the person. However, seeing the person in the flesh again disrupts that state, despite the inherent inability to look away. The chorus repeats the same phrase six times, inferring the level to which the person's return has affected the singer's mind. In the second verse, we figure out that the person's return has left the singer feeling lonely and distressed in that person's absence. However, despite all these negative effects, the singer finds it hard to let go of this person completely. The chorus repeats again in the same way, with the singer acknowledging what they've become and hardly being able to control their feelings.
There is honestly not much else to infer from the lyrics in the sense that the song remains quite uniform in themes throughout its entirety, with a pop-influenced repetition of the chorus. However, the melody and composition also contribute to the raw emotion conveyed through the lyrics. The chorus, for instance, is a dynamic, emotionally driven musical moment that escalates in intensity from beginning to end. The verse is more subdued, relying on hymnal-style backing music, making the chorus' return that much more powerful.
