Dark. Hard. Unapologetic. The bastard offspring of Goth/Industrial and Spooky/Rock.
Formed in Cardiff then long since relocated to the dark underbelly of London, the band has played the most exciting and energetic live shows the UK Goth/Alternative scene has ever seen. The band have graced then disgraced venues all over the UK including the Camden Palace, Hackney Ocean, The Garage (Islington), Camden Underworld (more times that can be counted!), Whitby Goth Weekend (twice) and Bath, Sheffield, Reading and Cardiff Universities (to name but a few). Their incendiary shows along with their self released albums have won the band the acclaim of the underground scene and earned them a reputation for delivering a fantastic live performance.
But that isn’t enough. After playing the Belgian Euro-Rock festival, getting some fantastic reviews in the major music press for their EP “Lords of Madness” and working with producer Jose Alvarez-Brill the band decided that still they could be so much more. They want to explode across the entire music scene and not just the UK underground. So with the volume hoisted up and a year writing new songs DUST has been re-booted and taken up a notch, with a bigger, better, harder & faster line-up and a spookier, more ethereal sound with bouncy, crunchier bass! For the new album DUST have also lost the live guitar making them unique in outfit & line up as well as sound.
Despite a few live shows (the band don’t like to stray too far from the stage!) the band are currently holed up, exiled to the studio, recording their new album (titled “Mind-Forged Manacles”) based on the theme of reaching for oneís goals to the point of insanity, the album explores the vices and devices on the road to madness and self destruction.
Child

So lonely- life's just like an empty room
Where is the answer, when our love was so sweet
I wish i could hold you tonight
But we only came close in my dreams
Sweet little child
Some broken hearts
They'd die for that answer
To try to get back, back to the past to break free
Tell me how can i find your sunshine again
Truth is well- you know that better than me
I wish i could hold you tonight
But we only came close in my dreams
Sweet little child
Give me your answer
Some broken hearts
They'd die for that answer
To try to get back, back to the past to break free,
Sweet little child
Give me your answer
Some broken hearts
They'd die for that answer
To try to get back, back to the past to break free
Solo
You know some broken hearts, would die for that answer
Sweet little child
Give me your answer
The song "Child" by D.U.S.T. expresses the feeling of loneliness and lamentation after a lost relationship. It begins with the symbolism of darkness and the passing of time, which the singer perceives as a lonely and empty room, transforming into a search for answers as to why the relationship failed. The lyrics express the longing to hold the former lover close again, even though the relationship only exists in the singer's dreams.
The repeated refrain "Sweet little child, give me your answer, some broken hearts would die for that answer" reinforces the importance of closure and resolution for the singer. The imagery of the "child" may symbolize youth and innocence, or perhaps the relationship itself when it was in its infancy. The singer is begging for a solution or an explanation in order to break free from the past and move on.
Overall, "Child" is a poignant and soulful expression of heartbreak and longing for answers. The powerful guitar solo punctuates the emotion of the lyrics, conveying the depth of feeling and emotional distress that comes with the end of a significant relationship.
