On Fire
D. Hollywood Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one

"No" is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
'Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, that you'll ever know.

You can climb a mountain, you can swim the sea.
You can jump into the fire but you'll never be free.
You can shake me up, or I can break you down,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy,
We can make each other happy,
We can make each other happy.

You can climb a mountain, you can swim the sea.
You can climb a mountain but you'll never be free.
Or you can shake me up, or you can break me down,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

We can make each other happy
We can make each other happy,
We can make each other happy,
We can make each other happy.

Oh!

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.

We can make each other happy,
We can make each other happy,

We can make each other happy.
We can make each other happy.

Overall Meaning

The song "On Fire" by D. Hollywood has a deep lyrical meaning that centers around the feeling of loneliness and how it can affect relationships. The first verse emphasizes how being alone and single (represented by the number one) is the loneliest state one can experience. The second verse further amplifies the feelings of sadness and disappointment when someone says no, as it marks the end of potential happiness or love.

The chorus, however, suggests that two people have the ability to make each other happy and pull each other out of a negative state. The repeated phrase "We can make each other happy" emphasizes the power of mutual affection and support. The bridge provides examples of how individuals can try to escape from loneliness (e.g., "climb a mountain" or "swim the sea"), but ultimately, it is impossible to do it alone. The song's overall message is one of hope and the importance of being there for each other, even when things seem bleak.

Smoke and water damage to personal possessions can be as destructive as the fire itself.

Prayer's for everyone.🙏🙏🙏😢😢😢.. The firemen are true hero's, God bless them!!!!

@richardthornton3051

After looking at this video it is bad for all those people involved which means that the city of la should make it mandatory for fire suppression or sprinkler systems to be installed in all buildings built before 1970 as it would save a lot of problems not only for the residents in their own homes but apartment renters as well includeing the owners and firefighters as well

@popeyesailorman911

Felt bad for those Apartment Renters losing Everything in this Fire.....

✌✌

@tatigore

I hope they had a renters insurance

@amandahudson431

Scares me to death when they are on the roof!

@flutsfluts

Last time this happened in the area, it was a homeless person setting cars on fire in the garages. Wouldn’t be surprised if it the same situation here. Only a couple blocks away

@TheSarah730

This exact thought came in my head too. Fire started in the carport which is suspect.

@davidkesterson

@@TheSarah730 it's a likely scapegoat but the property owners more likely. It's easier to sell or redevelop ground if a buildings emptied out and leveled
