Ohhh
Woah
How can I love you
How can I love you
How can I love you
I just wanna know
I just wanna know
How can I love you when you don't want me, baby
How can I love you when you love so damn lazy
How can I love you when I'm the only one trying
I cannot love you no more, baby, girl, I feel like dying
Look, I just wanna know
Look, I just wanna know
How can I love you
How can I love you
I gave you everything and I got nothing from you
I wanna love you, but you making it so hard
You said you love me, but your love, it feels so goddamn far
I need to get up, cause I think it's time for me to go
Looked you up in your eyes and I don't see the love no more
You say I'm distant and you say I never come around
You know I'm working and you know that I be out of town
I gave you love, but girl, just tell me what you gave me
You said you love me, but it's feeling like you hate me
I see you messing with this nigga, guess you played me
And now you mad at him because you know he ain't me
Comparing that nigga to me, knowing he can't compete
I know that since I left, your life been feeling incomplete
You got him sucking toes when my sister done did your feet
How can I love you when you only wanna play with me
Look, I just wanna know
I just wanna know
How can I love you
How can I love you
How can I love you
How can I love you when you don't want me, baby
How can I love you when you love so damn lazy
How can I love you when I'm the only one trying
I cannot love you no more, baby girl, I feel like dying
Look, I just wanna know
Look, I just wanna know
How can I love you
How can I love you
I gave you everything and I got nothing from you
In D. Tucker's song "How Can I Trust You," the lyrics depict a tumultuous relationship characterized by a lack of reciprocity and trust. The singer expresses confusion and frustration about how to continue loving their partner when they feel undesired and unappreciated.
The repetition of the lines "How can I love you" and "I just wanna know" illustrates the singer's desperate need for answers and understanding. They are seeking clarity and are grappling with the conflicting emotions arising from their partner's behavior.
The lyrics demonstrate a disheartening scenario where the singer's love is met with indifference from their partner. The line "How can I love you when you don't want me, baby" articulates the disconnect and the insecurities that arise from feeling unwanted or rejected in the relationship. The partner's laziness in reciprocation further challenges the singer's ability to sustain their love.
The lyrics also reveal the singer's feelings of being the sole contributor to the relationship, stating, "How can I love you when I'm the only one trying." This imbalance creates resentment and emotional exhaustion. The line "I cannot love you no more, baby, girl, I feel like dying" exemplifies the weight of these emotions and the toll it has taken on the singer's well-being.
Additionally, the lyrics allude to the partner's infidelity, leading to a breakdown of trust. The singer mentions witnessing their partner with another person and feeling betrayed. The comparisons drawn between the new person and the singer highlight the partner's dissatisfaction and the singer's irreplaceable position in their life.
Ultimately, the singer questions the legitimacy of their partner's love, asking, "I gave you everything and I got nothing from you." This statement conveys a sense of disappointment and unfulfilled expectations in the relationship. Despite their efforts, the singer realizes that their love is not being reciprocated or valued as they deserve.
In these lyrics, D. Tucker explores themes of unrequited love, emotional neglect, infidelity, and the breakdown of trust. The portrayal of the singer's emotional turmoil provides insight into the challenges faced in a dysfunctional relationship, ultimately leading them to question how to sustain love in such circumstances.
