Famed for their ability in both dancing and singing, and for their good looks, Da Pump's debut as four members, Issa, Ken, Yukinari, and Shinobu, came in 1997 with the song "Feelin' Good - It's PARADISE". The group originally came from Okinawa Actors School but are now part of the Avex Network and are produced by Akio Togashi. Their songs tend to have a quick tempo and often include elements of rap. Da Pump often appears in TV shows, movies, and magazines throughout Japan.
Following a DUI arrest in 2005, Shinobu temporarily suspended all activities from the group. However, on 7 April 2006, he officially announced that he has left the group. The remaining members of DA PUMP will continue on as three. During his leave, he returned to Okinawa and in a letter posted on his management company's website he explained that during his time there he felt an urge to perform the music of the perfecture and with those sentiments decided to leave the group. In December 2008, Yukinari also announced his leaving the group, and within hours, it was announced that Da Pump would add seven new members and become a multimedia entertainment group. In December 2009, Ken left the group to pursue a solo career, leaving Issa as the only remaining member from the groups original lineup.
In mid-2018, Da Pump made their comeback with the song "U.S.A.", which became a smash hit and somewhat popularized the famous dance move created by American rapper Blocboy JB, the Shoot, in Japan, as a result of the music video and choreography using said dance move during the chorus of the song.

ほんとそれ。この事務所はとにかく動かざること山のごとしというか、色々とにぶすぎる。ライブが売りという割にどのアーティストもあまりライブをしない。
せっかくダパンプが動き出したのにまた活動が減っている気がする。とにかく活動しないとすぐにファンは離れるってことを分かって欲しい。
年２回の全国ツアーと年1回のライジング全員集合のコンサートをルーティンにして空いてる期間は制作活動とFCイベント。これ位はやって欲しいです。
