The lyrics reflect on how the line symbolizes the emotional distance between them and the consequences of crossing it, despite the desire to get along well. The first verse highlights the invisible yet present line, which the singer acknowledges but cannot overcome. The desire for an amicable relationship is expressed in the next verse, with the plea to come over to their side once in a while. However, the following lyrics express the futility of their efforts as the vital signs are full of lies and falsehoods, and things are cut off right at the neck.
The chorus reflects on the meaninglessness of the situations between the two individuals as they cannot remember the past or the present. The accumulation of emotions has created holes in their relationship, and nothing has been effectively communicated.
