SWEET DREAMS
DHT vs. Eurythmics Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Hold your head up
Keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on
Keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on
Keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on
Keep your head up

Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused

Hold your head up
Keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on
Keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on
Keep your head up, movin' on
Hold your head up, movin' on
Keep your head up

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world

And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something

Overall Meaning

The song "Sweet Dreams" by DHT vs. Eurythmics is a cover of Eurythmics' original song with the same name that was released in 1983. The lyrics depict a world where everyone is searching for something, and we might even be used and abused along the way. The song opens with the line "Sweet dreams are made of this," describing the "sweet" world we believe in and the things we hope to achieve. However, the singer acknowledges that even though everyone has different desires, we are all in pursuit of finding something that will fulfill us.

The second verse contains a play on words: "Some of them want to use you, some of them want to be used by you, some of them want to abuse you, and some of them want to be abused." This lyric highlights the idea that not everyone is on the same page, and some people will try to manipulate others for their own benefit. The chorus then repeats the opening lines, emphasizing the theme of searching for something in a world full of different people and desires.

The bridge offers encouragement to "hold your head up" and keep moving forward, despite being mistreated by others. The final repetitions of the chorus are accompanied by a dreamy instrumental that fades out to the end of the track.

I've had this song on CD since late 2012, given to me by best friend that introduced me to hardstyle. I built a high quality sound system in to my Blazer with twin 12" subs around the same time, this and FutureShock were always my go to songs when I wanted to show people what it could do...
