He is known as New York's leading mixtape gardener.[1] He currently serves as the President & CEO of BLOK Entertainment, his own management and production company that has already produced tracks for such artist like DMX, Murderers, Funkmaster Flex, Foxy Brown, Juvenile, Petey Pablo, Fabolous and many more. He is also an MTV2 VJ for Sucker Free Countdown.

A native of Queens, New York, DJ Envy was tutored by neighborhood acquaintance DJ Clue?,[2] who introduced him to the mixtape circuit in the mid-90's. He quickly climbed up the ranks, and by the early 2000 he was peddling the latest freestyles and exclusives for big-name rappers like Jay-Z, 50 Cent and The L.O.X.. Since his reputation was so esteemed Sony sign him to their affiliate label Desert Storm Records. In 2003, he released his commercial debut album entitled The Desert Storm Mixtape: Blok Party, Vol. 1.

Envy's big break on the radio came when he mixed once a month for Hot 97's show called "Takin' it to the Streets", hosted by Angie Martinez from 12 a.m.-4 a.m., but later filled in when Angie Martinez got pregnant.[3] He then co-host Hot 97's morning show with Miss Jones from 6 a.m.-10 a.m. daily. His run on the morning show ended in July 2008 when Miss Jones moved to Philadelphia. Envy spinned on his own mixshows on Hot 97 called "The People's Mix" on Saturdays from 12pm to 2pm and "The People's Choice Hit List" on Sundays 5pm to 8pm. He had a segment on Hot 97 titled "New at 2", where he played the newest hits from 2 to 2:30 p.m. He currently hosts Hip-Hop Nation's afternoon show on Sirius XM Radio on weekdays 5 pm – 10 pm EST and on weekends he does a show from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Power 105.

On Monday December 6, 2010, DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God began hosting the morning show on Power 105 as The Breakfast Club.

Envy has made appearances on various television shows like 106 & Park, Entourage and Tha Corner, which he hosts on the Music Choice channel.[3] He was featured in the 2006 film Blood of a Champion, credited as Shadow's enemy friend. and Lil Mama WSHH video as well[4]

On March 21, 2010, DJ Envy took over as host of MTV2's Sucker Free Countdown.

You are Monday morning quarterbacking here. This was not a situation in which DJ Envy and his friend jumped up one day and said, "Hey, gimme money" and people forked it over. No. Instead, they held "seminars" in which they "taught" principles of property investing. Most of the persons thought they were receiving legitimate information about how to invest in property. Lots of them were the first persons in their families to be able to own anything, and their knowledge about the different ways people get scammed in real estate was limited. Years before this scam came up, I bought books from amazon on how to invest in property, but also wanted to learn from others who had done it. What I found is that there are lots of people will pretend to know a lot about investing, and will demand tens of thousands of dollars from you to share their knowledge (as this dude Cesar did). Thankfully, I didn't have tens of thousands of dollars to give up, so I couldn't get scammed in that way. The few "educational" courses that I ended up taking were not worth the money; they were produced by people who provided very little useful information because they don't want to create competition and they don't ever want you to learn enough not to be dependent on them. Because people are so crooked and work to take advantage of new investors, it's best to find an accountant who will go over the pros and cons of something you may wish to consider purchasing, and to take real estate courses from a university, not from these jokers on the internet who claim to "mentor" new investors. There are some good channels on youtube that will provide helpful info, too. I did not participate in this scheme promoted by DJ Envy and his partner, in part because I have developed a distrust of people who hold themselves out to be "mentors", but can see how others fell for it due to lack of knowledge of how dishonest so many people in real estate really are.

For you to say you feel no sympathy for people who thought they were educating themselves, and who spent money it took them YEARS to save is really cold hearted. First generation investors are doing their best to get education about investing from somewhere, and they don't always know when a scammer has crossed their paths until their money is gone.

This may upset some people, and this does not apply to everyone, as there are billions of people in the world but…… look at Cesar Penã. People of that size show you that they lack discipline somewhere in their lives. A dude who looks that nasty, that sloppy, that sloth and gluttonous, is that way somewhere in his life. In this case, it was choosing to bilk hardworking people out of hundreds of thousands and millions. That’s sloppy life wise. People blaming the victims for not doing due diligence, but what else can you do? They signed the legal contract I’m sure lawyers were involved this could’ve happened to anyone you could get scammed by anyone and that’s what this is. This is a word-of-mouth I gave someone money under the table thing, this is people who bought signed the contract and then the person on the other side didn’t abide by the contract. You can’t blame the victims for that. Only blame dj envy, and Flippin New Jersey. The best envy could do right now is apologize and try to help get their money back. If Cesar really has that much property time to sell them and repay the people you owe.

The victims are to blame for drinking the Kool-aid. As the other poster pointed out, a guaranteed ROI should ALWAYS be a red flag. Every investment comes with a risk of total loss, and people who don't understand that basic concept should not get into the investment game, period. So you can either be sensitive about so-called victim blaming, or you can be grateful that stories like this exist to educate other would-be targets of these scams.
