Although DJ Koze has had a taste of pop success with his band Fischmob (straight-up Hip Hop skills, political content, dry humor, crazy spoken samples, prank phone calls, etc...), he’s always been equally interested in experimenting with other forms of electronic music from ambient to break beats to wild sound collages from a myriad of musical genres.
An especially notable voyage in to uncharted musical waters, Adolf Noise (produced and performed by DJ Koze and his buddy Marcnesium) turned many a head around.
Taking the artist into a deeper Electronic direction, “Adolf Noise“ features a far more abstract and unusual use of samples and grooves while keeping the listener on his / her toes by incorporating liberal usage of football commentary, television show snippets, radio plays, and telephone terror with drug-delinquents.
It was this record, that made people, that were normally more into Techno or Electronica, sit up and take notice and it is now these people who are his biggest fans on dance floors between Tokyo and Hamburg - a development of successfully melting a world of musical styles with the power-blending strength of Club Culture.
The year 2002 made DJ Koze the deck wizard of Hamburg trio International Pony, whose debut album 'We Love Music' (Skint/Sony) was received to critical acclaim.
As a live DJ, Koze builds his sets on house and disco tracks and uses his well-honed Hip Hop skills blending it all together in a furious mix, making it seem that the term “House Rocking“ was coined with him in mind.
The readers of Germany’s trend-setting SPEX magazine correctly voted DJ Koze the DJ Of The Years for 1999 - 2004 - a well earned title, playing numerous shows all over the country and in different parts of the world.

That
That ain't how I wanna play it
I was ready to catch
That train
Get the hell out of this place
Hasn't worked out the way I wanted
Guess falling in love can
Bring you right back the way you started, yeah
Scratch
That
That ain't how I wanna play it
I wanna catch
That train
To get the hell out of this place
My grand plan
I guess falling it love can't
No
No
Bring you right back the way you started
That ain't how I wanna play it
I was meant to
Catch that train
Get the hell out of this place
I guess falling in love can't
I guess falling in love can't
Stop
I guess falling in love can't
No
No
The lyrics of DJ Koze's song "Scratch That" speak about disappointments in life and love. The song starts with the singer ready to leave a place behind and catch a train, but something has happened to make him reconsider. He had a grand plan that didn't work as expected, and falling in love has brought him back to where he started. He sings, "Guess falling in love can bring you right back the way you started." He confides that he wants to scratch the plan and play it differently. He reiterates his desire to "catch that train" and "get the hell out of this place" but regrets the hold love has on him as he repeats, "I guess falling in love can't stop."
The lyrics of "Scratch That" show the inner turmoil of someone who wants to move on but finds themselves entangled in a relationship that is pulling them back. The singer acknowledges that love has a strong sway, and even though he intended to leave, he can't. The lyrics express disappointment in life and love, showing that things don't always go as planned. However, the song also carries a message of hope - that things can be different if one is willing to "scratch that" and try something new.
