A) Child brides are still a very real and common thing in the world. If this comes as a surprise to you , I apologize but I also suggest you educate yourself.

B ) You can't really judge the past by modern standards and you can't dismiss the whole of something off of one negative facet of it. It's disingenuous and weakens your point.

C) There are far better ways to critique scripture, it requires more effort and research, but it makes the critique so much more meaningful. You'll find most of the biggest intellectuals who critique and argue against religion, study the subject matter extensively.

Look at Bart erhman and Christopher Hitchens for example. Enjoy your day☺️

Exactly. I'm usually cautious and skeptical when it comes to people preaching false doctrines and I don't hesitate to call them out.

But in this case, I don't see why people in the comments are insinuating malicious intent by the pastor.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't do myself, but hey, this is just a guy who is trying to be relatable to his audience. It's not that deep. He was just doing something cool with HUMILITY. You can literally see his humility in the way he spoke after it.

It's church. Yes, we should be serious with teaching. But, we don't have to always be uptight.

Regardless though, I must add that the house of God isn't for buying and selling and nonsense. But I don't think God is against His people having a good smile once in a while during service.

I understand why some people can find this inappropriate in a church but the preacher’s intentions were in good fun and from how I see, doesn’t distract nor discourage coming to church to worship. If this was mostly 50% of the entire service, I can understand but this is barely anything but a passing moment.

My preacher at the services added plenty of humor. I still got the point of the messages he was trying to convey afterwards. What should be important is if we’re going to add humor, find the balance or have it connect to your meaning.

I’d feel more welcome in this church more than anything because the joy of being in a house of God is being shown. Humor happens, it’s one of God’s gifts that we can find pleasure and enjoyment in the world he’s created.

As long as this simple thing doesn’t lead us to sin, why prohibit it? Rejoice in the day the lord has made.

It is better to enjoy a fun church where you will eventually learn something by heart. Than church that you go to just hear but never learn anything.

Like a child, they learn by playing and having fun and laughing together.
Or when Jesus taught they were together, he taught them, they laughed together, they enjoyed being around him.

Of if you still don't understand, you been to school.
