Rabbit in Your Headlights
DJ Shadow Lyrics

I'm a rabbit in your headlights
Scared of the spotlight
You don't come to visit
I'm stuck in this bed

Thin rubber gloves
She laughs when she's crying
She cries when she's laughing

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away...
(Away... away... away...)

I'm a rabbit in your headlights
Christian suburbanite
Washed down the toilet
Money to burn

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away...

If you're frightened of dyin' and you're holding on...
You'll see devils tearing your life away.
But...if you've made your peace,
Then the devila are really angels
Freeing you from the earth... from the earth... from the earth

Rotworms on the underground
Caught between stations
Butterfingers
I'm losing my patience

I'm a rabbit in your headlights
Christian suburbanite
You got money to burn....

Fat bloody fingers are sucking your soul away...
Away, away, away,
Away, away, away.

My late husband and I used to listen to this song together. ❤ Cancer took his life last October. I cry every time I hear this song. They were playing this in Wegman's on Sunday. Had to fight the tears until I got in my car.

first time I saw this video in 1999, when I was 19. Now I am 33. And all this time I've never forgotten this walking man. All this time when I faced troubles or I felt that I was lost, I thought of this man. And he never let me give up, because he didn't give up.

@jebadub

And now you're 43. Has it really been so long, so fast? I'll be here again in another ten, so I can hope.

Oh how I miss the days when they actually put an "effort" into making an actual music video that complements this beautifully, haunting, dark music so perfectly, its simply perfection. Like it somehow was always meant to be this way because how could you ever begin to imagine it being any other way. This in itself is how I know there is a God, this in itself is where I see God.

I am so glad to re-discover this video. DJ Shadow, James Lavelle and of course Thom Yorke, Thank you. For the longest time this would resonate so much with me, waiting to metamorphosis so those that continued to hurt me would no longer. I have taken those steps, shirked the comfort that I thought was protecting me, and now, they can't stop or hurt me any more.

It's crazy how something that was almost a daily listen can filter out like that.

From something that gave me solace, now gives perspective and strength.

@djshadow

It really is a beautifully shot video. Good to hear you like it even after all this time! -Team DJShadow.com

I can't explain it but I can relate. If there's one regret I'd like to not have at the end of life, It's living like a washed up rag run over by cars driving by. When he took the coat off, it equates to a change in mindset. I don't think It's about becoming "unstoppable" or more aggressive/less pessimistic. You can't control most things in life but you CAN, like he did, stop getting battered by the waves of life like a strip of seaweed against a rocky shore.
