Girls
DJ Smurf Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Girls – all I really want is girls
And in the morning it's girls
'Cause in the evening it's girls

I like the way that they walk
And it's chill to hear them talk
And I can always make them smile
From White Castle to the Nile

Back in the day
There was this girl around the way
She liked my home-piece MCA
He said he would not give her play
I asked him, "Please?" – he said, "You may."
Her pants were tight and that's ok
If she would dance, I would DJ
We took a walk down to the bay

I hope she'll say
"Hey, me and you should hit the hay!"
I asked her out, she said "No way!"
I should've probably guessed her gay
So I broke North with no delay
I heard she moved real far away
That was two years ago this May
I seen her just the other day
Jockin' Mike D. to my dismay

Girls – to do the dishes
Girls – to clean up my room
Girls – to do the laundry
Girls – and in the bathroom
Girls – that's all I really want is girls
Two at a time – I want girls

With new wave hairdos – I want girls
I ought to whip out my – girls, girls, girls, girls, girls!

Overall Meaning

The song "Girls" by DJ Smurf is a playful, somewhat tongue-in-cheek tribute to the fairer sex. The lyrics revolve around the singer's infatuation with women and how they impact his life. The opening lines of the song declare his love for girls, and how they are his priority in the morning, evening, and all day. The rest of the song details his fascination with various aspects of girls' appearances and personalities.

In the first verse, he talks about how he likes the way girls look and walk; he finds it "chill" to hear them talk and can always make them smile. He also mentions how he can appreciate girls from all walks of life, from White Castle (a fast-food chain) to the Nile (a river in Africa). In the following verses, he reminisces about a girl he used to know who was interested in someone else, and how he asked her out but got turned down. The lyrics conclude with him waxing lyrical about his desire for girls to take care of various household tasks and his ultimate aim of having a group of them at his beck and call.

While some people may find the song's lyrics sexist and misogynistic, it is important to note that the tone is light and humorous. The song is not meant to be taken too seriously, and it is evident that DJ Smurf is not advocating for the mistreatment of women.

Boy this shit brought back a flood of memories. The 1st memory that came to mind was the fact that I was 177lbs. of muscle, no fat, walking around with a six pack (stomach muscles), and ALL the women back in those days had banging bodies! This 'Booty Music' was the TRUE spirit of the 90's! No social media, no bullshit. What a Classic Era! This Beat all by itself is SUPERIOR to anything that DJ's in this era are spinning.
