The King of Rock 'N' Roll
DJ Yoda Lyrics

And they're coming round the track to haunt me.
When she looks at me and laughs I remind her of the facts
I'm the king of rock 'n' roll completely
Up from suede shoes to my baby blues
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
The dream helps you forget you ain't never danced a step
All the pathos you can keep for the children in the street
For the vision I have had is sweeping
New broom, this room, sweep it clean
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
High kickin' dandy, fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah ;
Long legged candy, fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah ;
Now my rhythm ain't so hot, but it's the only friend I've got
I'm the king of rock 'n' roll completely
All the pretty birds have flown now I'm dancing on my own
I'm the king of rock 'n' roll completely
Up from, suede shoes to my baby blues
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
High kickin' dandy, fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah ;
Long legged candy, fine figure fine cut a fine figure fine oh yeah ;
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque
In "The King of Rock 'N' Roll," DJ Yoda sings about the complexities of fame and nostalgia. The song opens with the singer admitting that all of their teenage boasts have become ghosts that are coming back to haunt them. The singer is feeling regretful about their past actions and the consequences of their decisions. However, despite these feelings of regret, the singer asserts that they are "the king of rock 'n' roll completely." This line can be interpreted to mean that the singer is confident in their identity as a musician and performer, even in the face of their past mistakes.
The chorus features the repeated phrase "Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque," which seems to be a nonsensical phrase that emphasizes the chaotic and unpredictable nature of life. The verses go on to describe the singer's desire to forget their past mistakes and focus on their music. The lines "Now my rhythm ain't so hot, but it's the only friend I've got" suggest that music is the singer's primary source of comfort and stability in a world that can be tumultuous and unforgiving.
The last two lines of the chorus are particularly interesting because they repeat twice, emphasizing the importance of this phrase. The song concludes with these lines and the repetition of "Hot dog, jumping frog, Albuquerque," suggesting that even though life may be unpredictable and sometimes regretful, music can provide a sense of stability and comfort.

This was (is) amazing, but I’m not sure about the second claim.
DJ Spinbad: Rock the Casbah (The 80s Megamix) from 1995 is a big influence for Yoda.
Before this album you also had ‘As heard on radio Soulwax Part 2’ (2001) as well as the Evolution Control Committee (1994), DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist with Brainfreeze (1999), DJ Qbert mixes from the early 90s (e.g Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Musik), Mr Dibbs (Turntable Scientifics) is another that sticks in the mind.
Going back farther you have Double Dee and Steinski: The Lesson (1985), along with Buchanan and Goodman working in the 1950s, which are all working in the same vein.
No disrespect to the album or Yoda, but my recollection was its part of a much wider movement at the time.

Bought this album in 2003, on vacation in England and wandering Brighton on my own. Stopped into a record shop and it caught my eye. For the longest time I felt like the only American other than MC Paul Barman who knew Yoda. This album is still sick, it expanded my musical horizons for miles and miles.
