Lookin Without Seein
DMX Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No they don't know what I've been going through
They don't know what I'm about to do to you
'Cause you lookin' without seein'
They don't know how hard I'm gonna fight
They don't know if I am wrong or right
Oh what I'm with you tonight
'Cause you lookin' without seein'
Y'all, they don't know if I'ma change this time
They don't know if I'm about to frame or fight

And I just might be lookin' without seein'
Might as well be blind

Overall Meaning

In DMX's song "Lookin Without Seein", he expresses his frustration and anger towards people who underestimate him and judge him without truly knowing what he's going through. He starts off by saying "No they don't know what I've been going through" which suggests that people are ignorant to his struggles and cannot relate to his pain. DMX then threatens to do something to those who are looking at him without really seeing him. This highlights the fact that people are quick to make assumptions about others without taking the time to truly understand them.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the idea that people are "lookin' without seein'" which means that they are simply glancing at him but not really comprehending his state of mind or emotions. DMX is frustrated that people are quick to judge and dismiss him without considering his perspective. He goes on to say that people don't know how hard he's going to fight or if he's right or wrong. This speaks to the idea that he's often criticized unfairly and people don't give him the benefit of the doubt.

Towards the end of the song, DMX admits that he may be "lookin' without seein'" himself, which suggests that he may be blinded by his own anger and frustration. He questions whether he'll change this time or whether he'll end up fighting again. This line highlights the fact that sometimes, we can be our own worst enemy and get trapped in negative cycles of behavior.

@JoaoSilvaFCP

Should be a full song.

@King.D_no.1

It's so sad that people despised this album so hardly... In this intro X is talking about the system and rap game, about people being blinded and not seeing what really going on around them....

@GhostHawk50

If anything people didnt like the album because of the actual production. Its a few songs on here you can't even hear what he's saying. Imagine, not being able to HEAR what DMX is saying on a song. That is completely the producer's fault.

@ELI57JAH

PLEASE MAKE A LONGER VERSION OF THIS TRACK X !!!
