Drab Majesty’s first release, a limited-edition cassette of 100 copies titled Unarian Dances, was self-released in 2012 and re-pressed by Lollipop Records shortly thereafter. Drab Majesty then signed with Dais Records and put out the debut LP Careless in 2015. Careless was met with high praise from critics and fans alike, and the original pressing is now a sought-after gem. A year after the initial pressings of Careless sold out, Dais released a compilation titled Completely Careless, featuring Drab Majesty’s entire discography, including two previously unreleased tracks.
On Halloween 2016, a split single featuring King Dude was released on Dais Records. Drab Majesty released their second LP entitled The Demonstration in January 2017.
In September 2017, the band released a single entitled Oak Wood in honor of Cash Askew, a victim of the Ghostship tragedy in Oakland.
A talented multi-instrumentalist, DeMure composes all of the elements of Drab Majesty. However, rather than taking personal credit for the music, DeMure insists that the inspiration for the songs is received from an other-worldly source and that Deb is merely a vessel through which outside ideas flow inward. But Drab Majesty is more than just a musical project — it’s a methodical experiment in the identity of creativity. The character Deb DeMure is an enigma that eludes all expectations of gender and ego. When DeMure’s imposing 6’ 4” figure assumes the stage, Deb’s playful, harlequinesque appearance, tempered by an ominous body language, and clashing with the dreamy, ethereal melodies comes across as a web of contrasts. The result is a perfect balance between seemingly conflicting messages, between the high and the low, the drab and the divine.

If I don't say I love who you are now
Who are you now?
Don′t say you love
If I don't say I love who you are now
You said it differently
Don't say you love
(Take my heart, take it now)
Who are you now?
Don′t say you love
(Take my heart, take it now)
If I don't say I love who you are now
You said it differently
Don′t say you love
(Take my heart, take it now)
If I don't say I love who you are now

The song "A Dialogue" by DRAB MAJESTY speaks of the complexities of love and the importance of being able to openly communicate and accept the changes that come along with a relationship. The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, with the line "Don't say you love, if I don't say I love who you are now" suggesting that loving someone requires both parties to acknowledge and appreciate each other as they are in the present moment. The repeated question of "who are you now?" almost seems to be a challenge for the other person to reveal their true self, rather than holding onto past versions of themselves.
The chorus emphasizes the importance of open communication in a relationship, with the singer repeating the phrase "You said it differently" after each line imploring the other person to express themselves more clearly. The repeated refrain of "Take my heart, take it now" brings a sense of urgency to the song, indicating that time is of the essence and that the singer needs some kind of assurance from their partner.
Overall, "A Dialogue" is a poignant and introspective song that explores the complexities of love and relationships. It is a reminder that in order for love to thrive, there needs to be open communication and acceptance of each other's ever-evolving selves.

I love gloomy music like Katatonia, Type O Negative, Depeche Mode and The Cure, and this is gold. Keep this dark music alive
