Farris grew up in a musical family with his mother, brothers (one of them is singer SiR), and cousin being gospel singers in Inglewood, California. His brother SiR is signed to Top Dawg Entertainment. In 2006, he started a songwriting group called WoodWorks with his brothers and his cousin Tiffany Gouché, who wrote songs for Ginuwine and The Pussycat Dolls, and is credited for co-writing "Never" by Jaheim. He was also in a musical trio with his brother called N3D. On May 9, 2006, he released his first album called Producer of the Year. In 2015, he appeared on SiR's independent album Seven Sundays on the song "You Ain't Ready".
In 2019, Farris was a contestant on the Netflix competition show Rhythm & Flow, and was named the inaugural winner of the three-week series. On October 24, he released his debut EP Inglewood High, a 7-track project including a feature from Gouché. HipHopDX gave the EP a positive review, saying he could "utilize multiple flows, deliver introspective storytelling, could rap in Spanish incredibly well and had an ear for quality." He performed at the 2019 Soul Train Music Awards with SiR. He also appeared on The Game's album Born 2 Rap on the song "Cross on Jesus Back".
Last Supper
D Smoke Lyrics

These niggas finally understand when I land, I'm the man
Fuck you thought this was?
Nigga from Japan to the land
Suckers know what's up
Nigga, I'm praying they over-stand me
Every kid need a hero, I'm tryna be uncle Stan Lee
RIP, all I see is concrete
I heard lover lives matter so when hearts leak
Blood drippin' live patterns
So my ink write in red when it splatter
Don't flatter me, nigga
Save your compliments
Already know that my flow is bomb as shit
We can toast to our old accomplishments
But I'd rather coast, move forward and talk my shit
They told me
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
It's one queen and a few brothers
The last supper
Keep it one hundred, I be feeling like
Campbell's Soup over white rice
Baked chicken with the skin off
Lawry's with black pepper, I'm fully seasoned
With half the effort, ask my nigga Mash boy, I been on
I'm a pit with a bunch of labs in the kennel
Papa Sticks used to pour it back 'til he went on
Drop a fifth and reach in a bag and make him pull out a sack
To relax, and pass the blunt like communion
I know we friends but nigga, Jesus was homies with Judas
Don't be the nigga lookin' at your homeboy like
"How could you do this?"
Smile in your face then as soon as you walk away
He wishin' you're ruined
Now you lookin' foolish
But still you say
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner, saying
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long dinner
Eat, smoke, take your time
It's a long, yeah
The lyrics of D Smoke's song "Last Supper" touch on various themes, including self-realization, cultural identity, and the complexities of human relationships. The song opens with the artist expressing his feeling of being nobody, despite his accomplishments. He asserts his dominance in the rap game, emphasizing his position as the man they all recognize when he lands. As he navigates through uncertain grounds, D Smoke highlights the importance of being a hero for children, aiming to succeed in nurturing the younger generation. He pays homage to Stan Lee, an iconic superhero creator, by referring to himself as Uncle Stan Lee, implying that he is someone to look up to.
The third verse of the song moves towards the theme of manhood and provides insights into the rapper's cultural identity. D Smoke uses a metaphor comparing himself to Campbell's soup and baked chicken, describing his experience as a black man in America. He further portrays himself as a seasoned and mature individual who has come from hard work as his "nigga Mash boy" can attest to. Finally, the song concludes by touching on the complexities of friendship, citing the irony of Jesus's friendship with Judas. D Smoke entreats people not to look foolish by not looking out for fake friends and having dinner with them.
