The Boss
Daddy Yankee Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Primo

I'm the boss (jefe)
I'm the boss (DY)
I'm the boss
The big, the big boss
I'm the boss (you know)
I'm the boss (D-D-DY)
I'm the boss (Daddy)
The big, the big boss

Haciendo cash me guardan tributo (yes)
Chamaco te repito no seas bruto (bobo)

(Oh, ¿quien soy?)

I'm the boss (el jefe ¿oíste?)
I'm the boss (paga los intereses)
I'm the boss (que por mi tú eres artista)
The big, the big boss (the boss)
I'm the boss (Mr. Presidente)
I'm the boss (jaja, the alsache)
I'm the boss (ustedes me conocen ya)
The big, the big boss (jodi'o bonitero)

Ey, Daddy no cae, Nazza no cae
Papi, that's right, floto bien high

Daddy no cae, Nazza no cae
Papi, that's right, floto bien high

(Oh my god, ¿quien soy?)

I'm the boss (el Daddy, papi)
I'm the boss (Mr. President)
I'm the boss (papo ruleta)
The big, the big boss (el sueldoso)
I'm the boss (jaja)
I'm the boss (guilla'era, papi)
I'm the boss (¿que vas hacer?)
The big, the big boss (aja)

Jodi'o mosquero
The boss
King Daddy
Los De La Nazza

Jaja

Me tiras viste si quieres subir followers
Yo te doy mention

Overall Meaning

In Daddy Yankee's song "The Boss," he asserts himself as the big boss and compares himself to his rapper peers who are ignorant, only able to purchase what they want with a credit card. Daddy Yankee boasts of owning a mansion and an airplane and brags that he can do what others do in a club with just a song. He further claims to have more fans than a town; rather, he commands a whole nation. Daddy Yankee shows his astuteness by making cash to the point of being paid $10 per minute. He investments his money in property, which is a good business, and is like celebrating Christmas every day of the year. Daddy Yankee concludes the song by saying that he will never fall like a fly-he will remain high in the sky like Jordan.

The song has a theme around the power of entrepreneurship and the value of sound decision making. Daddy Yankee's lyrics reflect the importance of having strategic investments rather than spending money on frivolous things. He also shows that he is proud of achieving so much as an artist and having a significant influence. In essence, "The Boss" is about Daddy Yankee's dedication and ambition.
