Minority of One
Dag Nasty Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And see what truth can't hide
The government controls you and brother that's not just a line
But don't trust them to tell you what is right
No one can tell you how to live your fucking life
Question priorities
Don't trust the majority
Question priorities
Even when you're a minority of one
Now some will try to dictate and tell you what to say
They say that they control you but don't give yourself away
But don't trust them to tell you what to say
Burn free and bright and walk your path today
Question priorities
Don't trust the majority
Question priorities
Don't trust the majority
Even when you're a minority of one
Look back on what they told you
And see what truth can't hide
The world want to control you and brother that's not just a line
But don't trust them to tell you what is right
No one can tell you how to live your fucking life
Question priorities
Don't trust the majority
Question priorities
Don't trust the majority
Even when you're a minority
When you're a minority of one
The song "Minority of One" by Dag Nasty is a call for individuality and independent thinking in the face of societal pressure and government control. The lyrics urge the listener to reflect upon the messages they have been given and consider the truth behind them, as the government and those in power may not always have our best interests in mind. The line "No one can tell you how to live your fucking life" serves as a rallying cry for personal freedom and autonomy.
The following lines caution against those who would try to dictate our thoughts and behaviors, and encourage the listener to be true to themselves and not give in to external influence. The repetition of the refrain "question priorities, don't trust the majority" emphasizes the importance of critical thinking and individual responsibility in shaping our beliefs and actions.

Wow. I was a fan of Can I Say as a kid when it first came out. This version of Dag Nasty sounds like something one would have heard at Hot Topic. Yikes.

Love this band. Hard guitar, but not as hard as , say, minor threat. Good mix of tempo changes, perhaps, similar to Vision's first albulm. A stand out, in post-punk/hardcore.
