I smoked my first joint when I was twelve.

As is commonly reported, I didn't get high that first time, although I smoked as much as everyone else over the course of about an hour. However, the second time I smoked a joint, when I was 15, was at first was a pleasurable experience. I only had about half a dozen of pleasurable experiences though, before marijuana started making me sick and throw up.

Maybe that's because everybody had started smoking it through water pipes. All of my high school friends smoked weed, so I did too, although I was really starting to hate it. Over the course of about six years, I smoked out because my buddies smoked out, but I always dreaded it. I never had any positive experiences anymore. When I was high, I was filled with self loathing, social anxiety, nausea, and when I was alone, extreme discomfort. I just wanted the feeling to go away.

Finally, when I was 21 (I'm 50 now), I announced to my buds that I was quitting weed. Of course they were surprised, but they kinda just shrugged, said 'OK', and that was it. Over the last 30 years, I've smoked maybe half a dozen times, mainly when I couldn't sleep as a last resort, because about seven years ago I developed what seems to be, so far, permanent insomnia - as in, a complete lack of the ability to fall asleep naturally. It took the last two years to find that antipsychotics, gabapentin, and prescription antihistamines will put me to sleep.

So, the upshot is, I'm one of those people who absolutely cannot enjoy getting high, although almost every person in my family likes to get high, as well as my friends. I surely don't, though.

Hey, but that's ok with me. I'm already addicted to almost every other chemical on the planet, so who needs weed? Not me!

Weed does two things to you, it causes memory loss and I don’t remember the other one

Bad for your lungs... we'd die anyway, how do we get a chance to smoke once we are dead?

@Saddam Adam the video doesn't have any mention of that. Did you even watch the video?

As someone with ptsd, I have serious issues with getting to sleep. One puff on a pen and it’s like someone letting the air out of a balloon.
I can relax and my mind stops racing. I can feel my body physically unclench itself and I get the best sleep ever. The next day I am way better and it’s less likely I’ll suffer an anxiety attack.

@Andrei Lacerda Yes! It’s just blissful blankness.

That's great, but it doesn't help the case of recreational use, if that's what you meant to do by this comment. What you did doesn't exactly count as recreational use, does it?

@Sui0Generis

When used by someone with a disorder like PTSD, and with the correct amount, that's what medical/therapeutic marijuana is. But what benefit would it have for someone with no PTSD?
