Wastin' Gas
Dallas Smith Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's lookin' Friday night ready
Tearin' up interstate twenty
Got the tank topped off
Dust flyin' like confetti
In the rear view
Got a clear view
Of these getaway tracks
You got the seat kicked back
Radio bumpin' that glass
You lookin' at me
Lookin' at you surfin' that hand
With the power lines
Yeah in no time we're nowhere fast

We're just wastin' gas, woah
Blurring them dotted lines
Killing all kinds of time
Baby, like we ain't coming back (woah)
Steal a kiss, maybe two
Pull it off for a few
Gonna hang as long as I can
You know I don't give it a damn
If we're just wastin' gas

Every once in a while
It'll backfire like a gun
I see that needle creeping down
Like a setting sun
Making every little memory one of a kind
You and I riding high all night

We're just wastin' gas, woah
Blurring them dotted lines
Killing all kinds of time
Baby, like we ain't coming back (woah)
Steal a kiss, maybe two
Pull it off for a few
Gonna hang as long as I can
You know I don't give it a damn
If we're just wastin' gas

We're just wastin' gas, woah
Blurring them dotted lines
Killing all kinds of time
Baby, like we ain't coming back (woah)
Steal a kiss, maybe two
Pull it off for a few
Gonna hang as long as I can
You know I don't give it a damn
If we're just wastin' gas

Here we are, we're just wastin' gas
Wastin' gas

I wish this song would get played more on the radio in the United States.  This song could be a major hit here if he gets recognized by Country Radio.

Thank you! im on the canadian side of the fence and I agree 100%. I feel as if Dallas Smith as well as many other Canadian artists would be enjoyed by the American country audience. I know for a fact that this song is gonna blow up on the radio here in the summer, definitely would be happening in America as well if they heard of dallas smith.

@dontshoottherunner

I agree. He should be on the same level as the other artists in the US Country Top 10.

@TheCheekster321

I'd say Dallas' music has really grown on me recently.  Him and Jason Blaine I think would really destroy the charts in the States and not just Canada.

+21D - TheCheekster321 I'm from the UK so it's more unlikely to be played here and I'll probably never get to see him in concert... really upset if I'm honest.

@svenneff

I've traveled multiple states and never hear him. I wish i had.

My 2nd favorite rock band next to The Tragically Hip . I'm a Canadian boy born in Kingston , Ontario. He's been an enfluental part of my life as Default , now I'm loving his country.
I can't crank up Default without singing in my car. Voice is heartfelt and makes the little hairs on your neck stand up.
Dallas Smith is a storyteller same as the Hip love it

@kathywilton6738

Bass player from Default was a great childhood friend of my brother.

@Hotmess87

This guy is so underrated from default to this, ugh he’s so amazing.
