My Time is Gonna Come
Daltrey Roger Lyrics

Load up your bullets
Shot me through the head
Gasp from where your standing
You might think I'm dead
When I hit the ground
Look at me bleed
Old man your sympathy is something I don't need
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
I walk from the shadows, and I walk in the sun
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
Somewhere is paradise and I found me some.
Oh yeah

You can laugh at me now
Sticker on your face
Theirs always someone bigger, trying to take my place
You can go to sleep
Be madam Dan
Wakeup tomorrow find my gun is at your head

My time is gonna come (Yeah)
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
I walk from the shadows, and I walk in the sun
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
Somewhere is paradise and I found me some.
Oh yeah

I say something nice
Give you a heart attack
I smile to your face. then I stab you in the back
When I turn away
Your poison in my tea
That won't kill me boy taste like sugar in me.

My time is gonna come (Yeah)
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
I walk from the shadows, and I walk in the sun
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
My time is gonna come (Yeah)
Somewhere is paradise and I found me some.
Oh yeah

Time is (Gonna come)
Time is (Gonna come)

Time is (Gonna come)
Time is (Gonna come)

Overall Meaning

In "My Time is Gonna Come," Daltrey sings about the inevitability of his success and his disregard for those who doubt him along the way. The opening verse references violence, describing someone shooting him in the head and watching him bleed. Despite this violence, Daltrey asserts that his time will come and he will walk in both the shadows and the sun. The verses continue to describe people who laugh at him, try to take his place, and even try to poison him. Throughout the song, Daltrey stays resilient, knowing that his time will come.

The song is somewhat reminiscent of other classic rock songs with themes of individualism and perseverance. It's a song about not letting the negative words or even actions of others bring you down, and staying true to your own path regardless of such obstacles.

There are some really cool songs on this LP. This was the first LP that John Entwistle's real sound emerged from a studio recording. Fantastic piano bass tone! You can really hear John's vocals on the "Yeahs!" and the "Gonna Comes" too. Good stuff!

Ghost of CTC

Say what you want but Daltry is a fucking legend.
