And Haile I philosophy is African unity
Unno watch dey segregation and social impurity
The race is not just for the swift but those who can endure
Make sure you have a steady footing in ah zion door
And keep dem thoughts dem pure, Jah love is for the poor
But some likkkle bwoy ah burst some gun dem mooma can't afford
If Jah say blood fi run let Jah will be done

If one from every nation can come live up an ah par
So don't care who you are there's a brighter morning star
It's shining with di town and tell the people near and far
You seek and you will search with science and research
The flesh it is the temple and the temple is the church
Haile Selassie say fi work so how some man ah lurks
Dem fix upon the cornerside like rubbish heap and dirt
Haile Selassie say ah one respect for every man
No care dey race, no care dey colour nor di religion
So make a decision fi bun di division

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Damian "Junior Gong" Marley/Stephen Marley's song The Mission are a call to action for the youths to have a plan and ambition towards firming in the Armageddon. The lyrics further allude to following traditions and the teachings of Marcus Garvey and Haile Selassie, who preached African unity, the importance of knowledge in setting people free, and respect for every man, regardless of color or religion. The song highlights the struggles the youths face in different parts of the world, fighting Guerilla warfare in Somalia to Ethiopia, and social impurities and segregation in other parts of the world.

The song expresses the need for a brighter future and the importance of each person taking responsibility for their lives, thoughts, and actions. The lyrics warn against laziness and a lack of purpose, which will result in fraud and lead to missing the rewards of entering Zion gates. The song ends with a call for a unity of all individuals, regardless of location, to make a better tomorrow.

Rap artists should focus on producing songs that will inspire and educate listeners instead of rapping about how much money, how many girls, and how many people they killed. By doing so, it only creates more youth especially black youth to lead a life of chaos, violence, and the rejection of education. This song acknowledges that all humans are equal regardless of race, country or religion. Good message, very important.
