The lyrics of Damian & Stephen Marley's song The Mission talks about the struggles of youths in different parts of the world and the importance of having a plan, ambition, and knowledge to overcome these struggles. The song starts by listing different communities in Jamaica, from Jungle to Rema, highlighting the diversity of the country. The song emphasizes the importance of having a plan for the future and setting an example for the upcoming generation. The artists ask why some men ignore the teachings of Marcus Garvey and Haile Selassie, who preached about knowledge, African unity, and equality. They urge people to keep their thoughts pure and maintain their place in Zion, warning against those who only cause disruption and destruction.
The song then switches to the larger struggle of various societies around the world like Somalia, Ethiopia, and Egypt. Haile Selassie's words about racial wars and division being scars on humanity are mentioned, urging people to unite and work together. The artists emphasize the concept of respect for every individual, irrespective of their race, color or religion. They call for unity to tackle the struggles of the world together, and Jamaicans from different communities proclaim their support to this unifying mission.

Rap artists should focus on producing songs that will inspire and educate listeners instead of rapping about how much money, how many girls, and how many people they killed. By doing so, it only creates more youth especially black youth to lead a life of chaos, violence, and the rejection of education. This song acknowledges that all humans are equal regardless of race, country or religion. Good message, very important.
