Deah Dame was the lyricist and Damian wrote the music.
Deah originally was going to be a solo act but after Damian heard her voice on a demo tape from another musician he was determined to sing with her. She was blessed with a limitless vocal range. Only a year after they met in Los Angeles, they hooked up with Laface records, and then moved to Geogia, formed the duo Damian Dame and put out their self titled album.
Before there might have been a second album Deah's life was taken away by a fatal automobile collision on June 27, 1994, She was 35 years old.
In 1995 Damian moved on and put out a solo album called "Damian 199sex", which is on "Chip Records and H & H Productions.
Unfortunately, Damian passed away on June 27, 1996 of colon cancer, only days after his solo album was released. Strangely enough, this is the same day that Deah passed away, two years apart.

Gotta Learn My Rythm
If you don't want me why the hell won't you tell me so
Cause I don't wanna be around if you don't know
Give me a signal or a sign I'm not wasting my time
If we've got rythm then fine let's get it on
Sure we've got rythm
but you're dancin' to a different drummer
Time out if you want our love to last
Gotta learn to pace it baby
Cool yourself out
Gotta learn my rythm baby
Gotta learn my deep emotion
Gotta learn my love takes time
So pace it baby
In slow motion
Slow down
Take time
So pace it in slow motion
Now if you're with it drop a dime so that I can know
Cause i don't wanna be no fool hangin' for the flow
Give me some rythm and a rhyme or what comes to your mind
Just don't leave a blank line let's move it on
The lyrics of Damian Dame's song "Gotta Learn My Rhythm" speak about the importance of being on the same wavelength as your partner in a relationship. The song starts off with a plea to be honest if the other person is not interested, as the singer doesn't want to waste any more time on someone who doesn't reciprocate their feelings. They are looking for a signal or a sign that confirms that they are both on the same page.
The second verse highlights the problem of different rhythms, where even though they may have a rhythm that works, the other person may be dancing to a different drummer, causing them to move too fast or slow down unnecessarily. The singer understands the importance of taking time to build a meaningful relationship, and urges their partner to pace themselves and cool down.
The chorus emphasizes the need to learn each other's rhythm, deep emotions, and love languages, as it takes time to create a solid foundation for a healthy relationship. They remind their partner to take it slow and pace it in slow motion to make it last. The final verse is a call to action for the other person to communicate their feelings, sharing their own rhythm and rhyme with the singer. They express that they don't want to be in the dark and ask for honesty and transparency to move things forward.
Overall, the lyrics of "Gotta Learn My Rhythm" convey the importance of being on the same wavelength as your partner, learning each other's rhythms, and taking things slow to build a meaningful relationship.
