Deah Dame was the lyricist and Damian wrote the music.
Deah originally was going to be a solo act but after Damian heard her voice on a demo tape from another musician he was determined to sing with her. She was blessed with a limitless vocal range. Only a year after they met in Los Angeles, they hooked up with Laface records, and then moved to Geogia, formed the duo Damian Dame and put out their self titled album.
Before there might have been a second album Deah's life was taken away by a fatal automobile collision on June 27, 1994, She was 35 years old.
In 1995 Damian moved on and put out a solo album called "Damian 199sex", which is on "Chip Records and H & H Productions.
Unfortunately, Damian passed away on June 27, 1996 of colon cancer, only days after his solo album was released. Strangely enough, this is the same day that Deah passed away, two years apart.
Virgin Island

Now we can go our separate ways so other loves can find us
So for now I must return this ring we thought would bind us
To walk away, I take a path that finds me on Virgin Island
Virgin Island
Just take a look at me
And you'll see why
Most stubborn girls like me wind up on
Virgin Island
Ever since I set him free
To my convictions, I am holding tight
If nothing else, I've got my pride
Although it's lonely here, at least I speak my mind
Should I give him his way
Or should I stay out here until the end of time?
Virgin Island
Somebody rescue me
Virgin Island
Ever since I set him free
Ya yo oh oh
I set him free
I let it be
And now I must give back this ring
I'm holdin' tight
With all my might
If nothing else, I've got my pride
Eye to eye
We could not see
So this is where I'd rather be
On Virgin Island, baby
In Damian Dame's song "Virgin Island," the singer reflects on a relationship that has ended and the aftermath of the break-up. The singer asserts that despite their disagreements and arguing, this split was for the best. The act of returning a ring that was meant to bind the couple is symbolic of this release. The singer intends to move forward and open themselves up to different loves. To do so, they take a path that leads them to Virgin Island. The Island becomes a refuge for the singer where they can hold tight to their convictions and rediscover their self-worth.
The singer describes Virgin Island as a place where those who are stubborn or strong-willed wind up. It seems to be a place of personal growth and transformation, where individuals come to find their own voice and stand up for their beliefs. Although lonely, the singer finds solace in being true to themselves and their values. The final line of the song suggests that the Island represents a fresh start and a new beginning, where the singer can leave their past behind and embark on a new journey.

I just recently learned of this duo . Itโs like their existence and history got wiped out . The were the first artists to got signed to Laface records. In fact they did more than just singers they were song writers for Laface records .
