Hollywood
Dan.Ed.Will Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
From Hollywood
From Hollywood
I can't get to heaven
From Hollywood
From Hollywood
So I dry your face, get you sober
And you tell me don't go
Now I'm driving you home
You look at me, look at me, and say
You look at me, look at me
You look at me, look at me, and say
In my dreams, in my dreams
I can't get to heaven
From Hollywood
From Hollywood
I can't get to heaven
From Hollywood
From Hollywood
Got the perfect face, got the glamor
Try to stand up straight, for the camera
Walking out of the château
Now I'm driving you home
You look at me, look at me, and say
You look at me, look at me
You look at me, look at me, and say
In my dreams, in my dreams
I can't get to heaven
From Hollywood
From Hollywood
I can't get to heaven
From Hollywood
From Hollywood
She says I can't get to heaven if I pray
I don't wanna wait, let heaven get away
'Cause I'ma get to heaven if we make it to L.A
Yeah, I'ma be a star, I'ma make 'em make it rain
Yeah I can get to heaven from Hollywood if I pray
Yeah if I pray, yeah if I
In "Hollywood," Dan.Ed.Will sings about the emotional toll of pursuing fame and success in the entertainment industry. The repetition of the line "I can't get to heaven from Hollywood" reinforces the idea that success in Hollywood does not equate to a fulfilled life. The hedonistic culture of Hollywood leaves the singer feeling empty, as if they can't reach spiritual fulfillment. Meanwhile, the lines "Got the perfect face, got the glamor / Try to stand up straight, for the camera" illustrate the intense pressure and scrutiny placed on individuals in the entertainment industry to constantly present themselves in the best light.
As the singer drives their companion home from a night out, they try to console them while grappling with their own feelings of disillusionment. The line "And it feels like rain, on my shoulder / So I dry your face, get you sober" highlights how the singer is trying to help their friend cope with their own problems, but ultimately they both seem unhappy and unfulfilled.
The last stanza features a twist as the singer breaks from the repetition and perspective of the previous lyrics. They sing from the point of view of their companion, who says "She says I can't get to heaven if I pray / I don't wanna wait, let heaven get away / 'Cause I'ma get to heaven if we make it to L.A." This character seems to embody the ambition and hope that the singer lacks, as they believe that success in Hollywood will finally fulfill them.
Overall, "Hollywood" serves as a commentary on the emptiness of Hollywood's glittering facade and the difficult balance between ambition and spiritual fulfillment.

This is what they call, throwing a bone. Imagine thinking this is enough. Imagine protecting a man or woman who abuses children, because they are wealthy or influential. That's evil.

A name on the list implies guilt yet it is not proof or evidence that a crime has been committed. I agree anyone that harms children should be held accountable as Epstein would have been. Guilt by association is an assumption of guilt but not proof a crime has been committed.

Nothing should be withheld, no one should exempt. This cover up has gone on long enough.
