Consisting of singer and guitarist Dan Reed, guitarist Brion James, bassist Melvin Brannon II, drummer Dan Pred and keyboardist Rick DiGuiarllonado, the Dan Reed Network started off in 1984, and released three studio albums (Dan Reed Network, Slam and Heat) before their unofficial breakup in 1993. According to Songfacts, they drew comparisons to Lenny Kravitz and Living Colour, got great reviews, and opened for The Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi. They sold nearly 2 million albums before calling it quits.
The band were renowned to their fans as excellent live performers, and they capitalised on this by releasing a two-disc live album (Live At Last! Halfway Around The World) in 1997.

Baby I need, all the same things you need
When it comes to lovin' you, I can relate
We're two of a kind. I know how you operate
Baby, You are my ritual
Burnin' in my soul. Never let you go
You are my ritual, my ritual baby
I love, all the same things you love
Baby I long for, all the same things you long for. Every night!
When it comes to lovin' you, I can relate
We're two of a kind, honey I know how you operate
Baby, You are my ritual
Burnin' in my soul. Never let you go
You are my ritual, my ritual
Baby, You are my ritual
Burnin' in my soul. Never let you go
You are my ritual
Every night I worship the love we got. There's a bond between us
Every night, I pray to the gods of love
There's a certain passion, that covers us at night
It's more than one desire. It's a bond that keeps us tight
Images of love, burning in my soul
You are my ritual. I can't let go
When it comes to lovin' you, I can relate
We want the same things. I don't care if you make me wait
We're two of a kind, honey I know how you operate
Baby, You are my ritual
Burnin' in my soul. Never let you go
You are my ritual, my ritual
Baby, You are my ritual
Burnin' in my soul. Never let you go
You are my ritual, my ritual
The lyrics of the song "Ritual" by Dan Reed Network seem to be about a passionate and intimate relationship between two people. The singer of the song acknowledges that although they may not be exactly the same, they still have a deep connection and share similar desires and needs. The line "When it comes to lovin' you, I can relate" suggests that the singer is able to understand their partner and meet their emotional and physical requirements. The chorus states "You are my ritual, burnin' in my soul. Never let you go" which further emphasizes the depth of their love, and how integral their partner is to their existence.
The song continues to describe the physical and spiritual aspects of their bond. The lines "Every night I worship the love we got. There's a bond between us, every night, I pray to the gods of love" portrays the image of the singer treating their relationship as a religious ritual or devotion. The chorus is repeated again, ending with "You are my ritual, I can't let go" which solidifies the idea that their love has become an essential component of their identity.
Overall, the lyrics of "Ritual" highlight the passionate and deep connection between two people who are not necessarily identical, but still share a strong emotional bond. The use of religious language and metaphorical representations of their relationship suggests that their love is something almost sacred and divine.

My son was 2 years old when this song came out. He could sing "Wait" by White Lion a little bit and he could sing ""Ritual"'. When the video would come on we would both be singing and dancing. Kids don't need vulgarity at a young age. Only Joy. And this song and video are Pure Joy.
