Dub vieillards

x2
Un prochain matin de bonne heure
J'irais les voire au cimetière
le coeur l’âme et le vin pur x2
Retenant mon dernier soupir
Le temps de trouver pour mon corps
un dernier plumard bien peinard x2
Refrain x2
The lyrics of Danakil's song "Dub vieillards" are about two elderly men sitting on the sidewalk with their bottle of wine, discussing the fate of their deceased friends who suffered from drinking too much. The song portrays the harsh reality of life and how it can break one's morale by pulling destinies and dreams in opposite directions. The old men's only source of enjoyment was drinking, which ultimately led to their demise. The use of the phrases "seule machine à jouir" and "manière à eux de mourir" suggests how addiction can lead one to a path of self-destruction. However, the lines "Aie Aie Aie c'est vie fait mal" acknowledge that even though life is painful, it still goes on, and we all must face our own destinies.
The second verse talks about how the old men have reached the end of their journey, and all they're waiting for now is their final paycheck that will bury them. The use of the metaphor "se retrouvent dos au mur, et ventre à un tas d'épluchures" portrays the grim reality of their situation as they have no place to go and end up living amongst garbage. The lyrics also elucidate the fact that while the world around them thrives and profits, the old men were left behind, struggling to make ends meet. The last verse of the song is about the singer's own realization that one day, he too will end up like the two old men who passed away, and the cycle of life and death will continue.
