Dance for the Dying released their eponymous debut EP in July, 2011. Shortly thereafter, select tracks from the EP became available on the Rock Band Network for Xbox. The strong demand for these tracks led to their inclusion for gameplay on the PlayStation 3 format as well.
The band’s song “Echo” was included on Paul Frank’s Academy of Awesome compilation (released Thanksgiving, 2011) and was listed as one of the Top 10 Songs of 2011 by DC 101′s “Local Lix” radio program. The band has also received steady air time on internet radio stations in the United States and Canada.
Dance for the Dying has continued to write new music while playing live shows for the past several months and will be returning to the studio to record new material in Spring, 2012.

The song "Echo" by Dance For The Dying tells the story of a person who feels deeply attached to someone else, to the point where they are almost entirely enslaved by the other person's will. The singer follows the other person wherever they go, even down into the ground if that's what they choose. They feel a deep attachment to the other person, but the other person doesn't seem to need them around. The singer refers to themselves as Echo and even those around them call them that as if they are just an echo of the other person.
The lyrics talk of the other person looking in a mirror to see the face they love dearer than any other. The singer knows how the other person feels, so they are always there, always echoing back their feelings. They even say "When he says 'I love you' to himself, I whisper 'I love you' to him as well". There are times when the singer has to let the other person go, but they hope the other person floats and comes back to them because they are tethered to them and sinking if that's where the other person goes.
Towards the end of the song, the lyrics suggest that even when the two have passed away, the singer's "voice will linger on as my ghost when we are gone". This implies that the singer's attachment to the other person is so deep that it will last beyond death.
