The band is well known for their relatively frequent lineup changes, which, most notably, involves a fluctuating lineup of vocalists, both on tour and on record. Dance Gavin Dance incorporates many different musical genres into their palette, such as math rock, funk, and soul on top of its post-hardcore sound. Ex-vocalist Jonny Craig also received high marks for contributing to the band's unorthodox soul sound and guitarist Will Swan has been recognized for his intricate, fast-moving guitar licks and riffs.
The band currently consists of vocalists Jon Mess and Tilian Pearson, guitarists Will Swan and Andrew Wells and drummer Matthew Mingus.
To date, the band has released ten studio albums, two live albums and one EP. Their most recent album, entitled Jackpot Juicer was released in 2022.

Dance Gavin Dance Lyrics

Fading away
I am in cold tonight
I have your faith
Well I feel you thumping
Just don't run from me
I'll follow you only
In "12 Hours 630 Miles," Dance Gavin Dance sings about the distance and loneliness that comes with being away from someone you love. The opening lines suggest the uncertainty and mixed emotions that come with either starting or ending a relationship, with the singer feeling the chill of being alone in either scenario. The line "I have your faith" could be interpreted as the singer holding onto hope for a relationship's survival despite the distance between them.
The chorus suggests that despite the distance and potential for running away, the singer will remain committed and follow their loved one until they come back to life. This could refer to the idea of distance causing one to feel disconnected or less alive, and the promise of the relationship bringing that spark back.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of longing and the pain of separation, but also the determination to remain loyal and optimistic about the future of the relationship.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't say faith because there's a clear "-ck" sound at the end... but I can't think of another word that would fit or make sense.

Too damn late, Tillian and the band will NEVER have the same sound they had with Johnny... he was more than enough to crossover people who don’t even like rock let alone “screamo”.
