The Dance Hall Crashers recorded a few songs during their first year (these are featured on The Old Record), and in 1990, they made their most notable lineup change, adding second vocalist Karina Denike. Soon after, the band members parted ways, but they played a reunion show in 1992 due to pressure from fans. The show met with great fanfare, and so the band decided to reunite on a more permanent basis, with Rogers and Denike on vocals, Hammon on lead guitar, his brother Gavin on drums, Scott Goodell on second guitar, and Mikey Weiss on bass. The Dance Hall Crashers song "Enough" was featured on the soundtrack for Angus (1995 film). The song "Don't Wanna Behave" was featured in the 1996 film "Biodome" as well.
As of August 2005, the band members lead separate lives but still play a few shows per year. In November 2004 they played and recorded a show at the Hollywood House of Blues; the concert was released by Kung Fu Records in September 2005 as part of the popular The Show Must Go Off DVD series.

Learning from your mom`s mistakes
Eating off your daddy`s plate
Spending all your wasted taste
You can`t see past your gate
Once I saw you dip your toe
Past the line at the end of the road
But frightened you came running home
Oh quit your whining
It`s so boring
Play the victim and
Keep me yawning
How do you expect me to believe the scene that you`re describing
You`ve had all the luck
They fought it out for you
Without them you`d be stuck
They held your hand to walk through
Don`t forget you`re bored
And that`s your only problem
Times for you ain`t tough
Try showing them some gratitude
Oh quit your whining
It`s so boring
Play the victim and
Keep me yawning
How do you expect me to believe the scene that you`re describing
Hey there Mr Blue
I`m hurting just by listening to what you`ve been through
Poor baby, or what did they do to you
Whoa poor old Mr. Blue
Inside your white fence
The glass house you`ve created
Things are getting tense
Don`t feel appreciated
Glance out of your window
It looks like sun to me
But you just count the clouds
Sigh and beg for sympathy
Oh quit your whining
It`s so boring
Play the victim and
Keep me yawning
How do you expect me to believe the scene that you`re describing
Hey there Mr Blue
I`m hurting just by listening to what you`ve been through
Poor baby, oh what did they do to you
Whoa poor old Mr Blue
You could sit there forever
Blaming others but never
Allowing things to get better
I keep trying
Maybe I should just give up
Hey there Mr Blue
I`m hurting just by listening to what you`ve been through
Poor baby, oh what did they do to you
Whoa poor old Mr. Blue
Oh quit your whining
It`s so boring
Play the victim and
Keep me yawning
How do you expect me to believe the scene that you`re describing
Hey there Mr Blue
I`m hurting just by listening to what you`ve been through
Poor baby, oh what did they do to you
Whoa poor old Mr Blue
The lyrics of Dance Hall Crashers' "Mr. Blue" are a critique of the self-pity and entitlement of a privileged individual. The song talks about someone who has been lucky and has had many advantages in life but fails to appreciate them. The first verse highlights the irony of the individual complaining even after having inherited success and privilege from their parents. It talks about how they've not explored beyond their comfort zone and are too scared to do so. The second verse emphasizes the lack of gratitude and entitlement of the individual, who apparently feels that they deserve everything they have and have never faced any real challenges in life. The chorus is a sarcastic response to the individual's constant whining and playing the victim. The bridge section of the song suggests that the individual needs to take responsibility for their situation and stop blaming others.
The song's lyrics are quite straightforward, and they do not use any complex metaphors or similes; they communicate the message directly to the listener. The verse-chorus structure of the song is similar to that of many pop songs, which makes it catchy and easy to remember. The phrase "Mr. Blue," which repeats throughout the song, is used as a sarcastic reference to the depressed state of the individual. The lyrics of the song provide a social commentary on entitlement and privilege and suggest that people who have been given many advantages in life should acknowledge them and appreciate them rather than complain about their problems.

When I listen to it, it makes me sad in a good way. It makes me think it's being sung to a terminally ill child.
"Why are you worried about the dirt? I don't think that you'll mind. When it's your time." And the "promise I'll wait a while. To make sure that you've moved on." If it's a lullaby, it's scary. Ha. I thought maybe it was her singing to her grandma on her deathbed, too. Makes more sense I guess.
