The Dance Hall Crashers recorded a few songs during their first year (these are featured on The Old Record), and in 1990, they made their most notable lineup change, adding second vocalist Karina Denike. Soon after, the band members parted ways, but they played a reunion show in 1992 due to pressure from fans. The show met with great fanfare, and so the band decided to reunite on a more permanent basis, with Rogers and Denike on vocals, Hammon on lead guitar, his brother Gavin on drums, Scott Goodell on second guitar, and Mikey Weiss on bass. The Dance Hall Crashers song "Enough" was featured on the soundtrack for Angus (1995 film). The song "Don't Wanna Behave" was featured in the 1996 film "Biodome" as well.
As of August 2005, the band members lead separate lives but still play a few shows per year. In November 2004 they played and recorded a show at the Hollywood House of Blues; the concert was released by Kung Fu Records in September 2005 as part of the popular The Show Must Go Off DVD series.

Constantly coughing and wheezing.
Been awake the whole night through,
My mind reeling with thoughts of you.
Sitting in the north pole,
It is really cold,
But I'm still waiting for you.
My blood is cold as ice.
If you were here that would suffice
Staring blankly at the wall,
Waiting patiently for your call.
Sitting in the north pole,
It is really cold,
But I'm still waiting for you.
The bread you baked when you left
Is now a solid rock, a footrest
Tried to keep it warm for you
It didn't last four years, only two.
Sitting in the north pole,
It is really cold,
But I'm still waiting for you.
You said you'd be back in ten.
Good thing I believe in zen.
You'll be back, that I know
Even though that was three years ago.
Sitting in the north pole,
Feels like I'm getting old,
But I'm still waiting for you.
I know that you'll be back soon,
So I'll stay awake until you do.
Borrowed a book from a friend of mine,
I've read it so many times.
Sitting in the north pole,
It is really cold,
But I'm still waiting for you.
Sitting in the North Pole,
Feels like I'm getting old,
But I'm still waiting for you.
Waiting for you.
The song "North Pole" by Dance Hall Crashers is a melancholic tune about waiting for someone you love in a place where everything is cold and frozen. The lyrics describe the challenges faced by someone who is stuck in the North Pole and yearning for their loved one. The singer is freezing, coughing, and wheezing, but their mind is constantly reeling with thoughts of their beloved. The absence of their loved one has made them feel old and drained, but they keep on waiting patiently as they believe that their lover will soon return.
The song is riddled with imagery that paints a bleak picture of the singer's situation. The bread that their lover baked when they left has turned to a solid rock, which they now use as a footrest. The singer borrows a book from a friend to keep themselves occupied, but they have read it so many times that it no longer brings the desired distraction. The lack of human warmth is palpable in their surroundings, and the singer's blood is as cold as ice.
The song ends with the singer still waiting for their lover, confident that they will come back soon. Despite the unbearable cold and isolation, they hold on to their hope and their love, which keeps them going. It is a poignant reminder of the power of love and how it can sustain us in the harshest of circumstances.

When I listen to it, it makes me sad in a good way. It makes me think it's being sung to a terminally ill child.
"Why are you worried about the dirt? I don't think that you'll mind. When it's your time." And the "promise I'll wait a while. To make sure that you've moved on." If it's a lullaby, it's scary. Ha. I thought maybe it was her singing to her grandma on her deathbed, too. Makes more sense I guess.
