Singer Ted Poley and guitarist Andy Timmons left the band after "Screw It!" was released (and having recorded a third album which got shelved). The band brought in Paul Laine to replace Poley for 1995's "Dawn" and on.
In 2001, Laine would record vocals for the shelved album they had recorded with Poley. Fans wanted to hear both singers, so they released this album, "Cockroach" as a 2-disc set, both discs having the same songs (Laine's had a bonus track), the only difference being the vocalist.
2003 saw the return of Ted Poley to the band. Danger Danger would then release "Prime Cuts", a collection of rare tracks and demos from the 80s with Ted Poley.
Their latest release is a live album recorded during their last tour with singer Paul Laine.
They also contributed a track called "Naughty Naughty Christmas" to the "Have A Very Hairy Christmas" Compilation.
the record label has sent them back in the studio to record a new album this year 2008. Their latest album is entitled "Revolve" and was released sometime in September 2009
Helicopter
Danger Danger Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Feel the night (breathe on your back)
Hear the sound (a silent scream)
Come to wake you (from your dream
Cross your heart (and hope to die)
I feel your fear (it feeds my soul)
Disappear (to the unknown)
Look up to the sky
I'm always out there
Open up your eyes
(Chorus)
(Verse 1)
(B-Verse 2)
(Chorus)
The lyrics to Danger Danger's song "Helicopter" portray a sense of fear and vulnerability. The first line, "See the sky (so cold and black)," sets the tone for the rest of the song as the darkness of the sky and the night seeps into the singer's consciousness. The second line, "Feel the night (breathe on your back)," adds another layer of discomfort as the night feels almost suffocating. The third line, "Hear the sound (a silent scream)," creates an eerie and haunting image of something that is not quite tangible but nonetheless terrifying. The fourth line, "Come to wake you (from your dream)," shows that whatever is happening is not a dream, but rather a harsh reality that the singer is trying to escape from.
The following lines become more intense as the singer begins to feel fear and realizes that whoever is chasing them feeds off of that fear: "Cross your heart (and hope to die)/I feel your fear (it feeds my soul)." The final line, "Disappear (to the unknown)," shows that the only way to escape this fear is to disappear from the world as they know it.
In the chorus, the singer declares themselves as "the truth that you can't outrun," showing that the fear and darkness will always be present in some form or another. The repetition of the line "look up to the sky" emphasizes the significance of the sky in this song and how it reflects the singer's emotions.
In summary, "Helicopter" by Danger Danger is a powerful depiction of fear and vulnerability. The dark and eerie imagery creates a sense of unease that is hard to shake off, and the repetition of certain phrases emphasizes the importance of certain themes and ideas within the song.
