Aster
Daniel Duke Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And the Aster always blooms when Summer's gone
Well, I know your heart is breaking,
And it's more than you take in,
But I swear this feeling never lasts too long
Pack up all her stuff
I know this feeling's rough
But, believe me, this is best
Wipe away those tears,
Don't call 'em wasted years
Love is never simple but it builds us into men
Like the sun it always rises with the dawn
And the Aster always blooms when Summer's gone
Well, I know your heart is breaking,
And it's more than you take in,
But I swear this feeling never lasts too long
Don't take a second look
Close a chapter in your book
Your story's still unwritten
Go and tell it while you can
You will love again some day
You will find another heart to break
Never love somebody, just for love's sake
The toll it takes
Like the sun it always rises with the dawn
And the Aster always blooms when Summer's gone
Well, I know your heart is breaking,
And it's more than you take in,
But I swear this feeling never lasts
And I know this feeling it will pass
Well it comes so slow but it goes so fast
But I swear this feeling never lasts too long
In Daniel Duke's song "Aster," he sings about the hardships of heartbreak and moving on. He compares the resilience of nature, specifically the sun rising with the dawn and the Aster blooming when summer ends, to the ability for humans to heal and love again. Though the pain may feel overwhelming at the moment, Duke reminds listeners that it is temporary and will eventually pass.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of closure and the difficulty of saying goodbye. Duke acknowledges that goodbyes are never easy, but sometimes they are necessary for growth and moving forward. He encourages his listeners to wipe away their tears and embrace the future with open arms, reminding us that love is not always simple but it ultimately helps us become better people.
