Daniel Guichard s'est révélé au début des années 1970 grâce au tube "La tendresse" que Patricia Carli avait écrit pour Mireille Mathieu, mais que son impresario Johnny Stark refusa. En 1972, il monte pour la première fois sur la scène de l'Olympia. Il a connu une série de succès avec "Faut pas pleurer comme ça" (sur une musique de Christophe), "Chanson pour Anna", composée par Pascal Danel et l'incontournable "Mon vieux" (1974), dédiée à son père mort lorsque Daniel avait 15 ans, et écrite avec Jean Ferrat et Michèle Senlis. Daniel Guichard véritable passionné de Zouk aura contribué à la renaissance de ce style musical en incorporant dans ses chansons de nombreux éléments constitutifs du genre. Il habite désormais à Sauvian, dans l'Hérault
Dans les années 80, Daniel Guichard crée sa société de production "Kuklos" et connaît un énorme succès avec "le Gitan" (1983), suivi de "Le nez au mur" (1983). Il installe au fond de son jardin une radio libre consacrée à la chanson française, Radio Bocal, ancêtre de Nostalgie, qui émet 24 heures / 24 sur 104,7 FM. Il en profite pour organiser, bien avant les Restos du Cœur, une tournée "contre le cancer" pendant laquelle les chanteurs qui l'accompagnent (Michel Delpech, Adamo, Richard Cocciante ...), se produisent bénévolement. Il a enregistré 25 albums et se produit toujours sur scène dans toute la France qu'il arpente en camping car.
